Can anybody explain to me the difference between a left shift and right shift deviation of the lymphocytes?...and if it's not too much trouble...can you add an example? Thanks.

myeloblast-early neutrophilic myelocyte-netrophilic metamyelocyte-netrophil with band shaped nucleus-neutrophil this is the normal development of these cells. "Left shift" means increased bands (left to the mature neutrophils). Increased bands ("left shift") in peripheral blood is an important indicator of infection or a systemic stress, the bone marrow is simply releasing neutroph ls so fast that they don't have time to mature.
