....As BBB starts her day this morning, with the required cup of coffee that my new chief resident brewed (smart guy), I open my email box to about 65 emails from prospective applicants......

Sigh, it starts again. I have been posting on this forum since June 3, 2003. If you started residency then, you would be completing your first year of fellowship now (well, if you are in IM or another 3 year program). I've laughed with a number of you (reading some silly posts), sworn at a number of you (when the search feature seems the easiest option), and (reluctantly) closed my PM feature because I can't keep up with the personal requests (when the questions really belonged on the boards)

I've seen many people come through, get their residencies and move on. A few that know who I am actually still call me from time to time to let me know that they are alive and well (and in one instance, he was selected as a Chief resident in his hospital).

I've actually been lucky enough to have several persons from this forum join me in my program. It's actually pretty funny to see them come to my desk the first time, see my dogs pictures, hesitantly ask me the names of my dogs and a slow smile come on their face when I answer "Casie and Molly" - then we both know who each other are.

Some of BBB's responsibilities here have changed, and it may be a little more difficult for me to be on forum. Well, at least until I figure out what I am doing. Be patient with me - I will try and answer what I can answer. If I don't answer, it's usually because I can't.

One of these days, it might be interesting to do a world tour and hit all the medical schools/universities to do a Q&A for prospective IM residents - that would be so interesting. I'm ready - I have my Japanese Encephalitis vaccine done!!

Good luck to all - again, I'm not leaving, it's just going to be harder to get here. But first, another cup of wonderful Colombian coffee brought by a resident who actually thought of me when he went home.

Wow ,bbb, i hope u wont be too far away.I'm going for this years match, but i was a passive follower of last years match and i have always read your posts and been comforted by the fact that we have some1 like u here to answer our troubling questions.
I read the line about casey and molly to my husband and we both had a good laugh over it.I dont know if i would have the opportunity to meet you in person during this years match though as i am kind of"geographically limited" but who knows, your program might just be near where i live.So mayb i'll also have the chance to casey n molly's pics as wellwinkwink

BBB ....I am sure we're going to miss you, but hopefully when I am ready to apply for the match yr, you'll be more around .

By the way let me know if you'll ever going recruit IMG around the world , please do not forget to come to north 1st for IMG , not the local . The Australian official government recruiter came here last yr to recruit IMG here sadly abandon by their new mother land even they are loyal to the new mom for yrs or decades or so .

Like your true meaning of BBB . As a woman, that is the true working success motto in North America . I'm trying to be like that , not quite so yet at it since originally from South East Asia .

Q .... Is there any chance [ personally i believe there it is ] to get the residency in NY & surrounding states or which states for IMG , graduated truely long ago , been in north loyal to it , so no practice for long too , but have dream since here , now even more cause of situation in favor ?

Q.. Which program are better chance with ... my interest General Med , Int Med , Ped, Em Med , Psych , Neuro , etc , & combind IM with all previously mentioned and had GP , Ped experinces with teaching ?

Visa ... like to have H1 [ prefer ] , if no choice J1 then waiver , if not J1 then back to new mom land at the north .
How to get fellow if H1 residency ?

Plan to get Match ... 2009 .

It will be great if we/ I can use this site as your thread to ask Q when we have , so you will not have to browse around , that this will be like your journal but Q by us , Answer by you , or if not please let us know , we/ I will understand .

Hope will meet you at your program in both residency, as chief of resident , possible in fellow if God permit me with my hard work , so can serve you with the columbian coffee .
The only flavor I can drink & like and think the best in the world . grinnod

Thank you for your time .

Have a great 4th of July in next week !!!
Any word to Dr. C. Fisher ?
I might meet him on 4th of July if I can attend his one day live Int Med lecture here .

Wish you well & best wishes with great success nodnod

ps. do not work too hard & do not forget all of us here, we all love you, need you as our guardian nodsmiling face

BBB, I guess this would be a good time to thank you for the concise and informed advice you give on this forum. I often use your answers to validate what I thought would be the right course in applying for residency. And on many occasions, I've been able to get some insight on the inner workings of Programs from your answers. Well, my spouse matched this year hence my duty as "PC" (for my spouse) is done. Now, I visit the forum just for fun. So thanks!

blissful...brainy...beauty.... your advice was always interesting, wise and well appreciated! Although the demanding intern year leaves me with little time, I still enjoy logging in to read your comments!

Hey, BBB... didn't know you are a girl... Anyway...

Thanks for helping people around here.

As much as I hope they will find good residency programs, I hope you'll always choose the best ones for your program, so everything goes as smooth as possible for you and your staff. I bet it's not easy to be sure in such a small amount of time and contact with each candidate.

Cheers! I hope you have your yellow fever vaccine, too, so you stop by Brazil. Beeeeeaaaaautiful country!
