wink Hello, i've been reading experiences from this forum for quite some time, just to help me through this stressful exam and focus on important things.

My experience: when you get to the examination center they ask you if you need a coat or a stethoscope, they treated us very well, gave their warnings and some advises, allowed us to "play" with the equipments on the scene in order to get us familiarize with the scenario that we were going to encounter, they explain the brakes you have which is 30 min after the 5th case, 15 minutes after the 9th case and a simple survey after the case then you are free to go.

Then the awaited moment arrived "get in line the exam is about to start". At that moment you become a number on your coat's left sleeve. I swear i was not nervous at all but anxious to begin, in my encounters i decided to write the sp's last name, sex, cc, then wrote liqoraaa and pam hugs foss then 2-3 diferential diagnoses; when i entered, the sp explained me her problem and i focused everything to the possible diagnoses, some of then very obvious, i left the encounter 3-4 minutes earlier in 11 of my 12 encounters, (could not finish one, the patient was a little rude and inattentive i tried my best to get info from him but nothing; most of those who had that patient later told me the same), by the way examinees 1-12 dont see the same patients and or cases as 13-24. Examinnes per day is 24. After the encounter i had all the time of the world to write a PERFECT patients note but then you start realizing " i forgot to ask this, i forgot to do that in order to really rule x in or rule x out" but well....................

I counseled every patient to be counseled, I make closure with 11 of them, helpful tips i read at this forum helped me a lot for example, i cleaned the membrane of the stethoscope with alcohol and they expressed their " i am very thankful for your attentions speech", i even advised them for unrelated case findings like one patient with 3 odd shaped moles on the back, 2 patients with edema for example, they thanked me for my interest in them. I dont know if i did wrong but i told them "there is no way you can fake this so please have it checked and they smiled with me".

Anyways i honestly think i did pretty good in most cases, i used first aid and uw, about 7 of the cases were in part similar to those in FA , the others i had seen in clinical practice and with mild difficulty. I could not practice in english with anybody until i met a very good guy who was to take the exam with me and practiced the day before the exam. We did pretty good and gave me the confidence i needed for the exam.

I am not saying that i passed, because you can never be sure, but i'll be very surprised (shocked) if i fail.

I want to thank every one who took their time to write their experience, is very helpful.

By the way, some one i know was so nervous that after taking the history lin his first encounter left the room without doing any physical exam, then he did little mistakes here an there, well that ........................................................................... ......... passed so can i
