whats the osmolality of stool in osmotic diarrhea. i guess it should be high. but goljan notes mention it to have an osmolaity lower than that of plasma.
Your inputs please.

i think in any case stool wont have osmolality higher that plasma.
substances like lactose and mannitol will cause fuide to shift from blood to intestinal lumen. making sure that osmolarity is equal to that of blood. now ad to this the non absorbable and osmotically inactive compounds that may lead to diarrhea.
hmm needs more light on this
