can anyone please describe why ionized calcium become low in metabolic alkalosis?

it is becuase of trancellular shift to compensate H+ movement???

The albumin get more negatively charged in alkalosis. That binds more ionised calcium causuing a decrease in the ionosed fraction. This causes oversensitization or peripheral nerves and nM junctions causuing carpopedal spasm. Most commonly seen in hyperventilating women in stress.

thanks buddy
your answer made me recall concept from step 1 endocrine

ratio of free to bound ca2+ is pH dependent, it decreases in alkalosis and increases in acidosis !!!!!!
