you are having probs with understanding the concepts of renal phys.. i had to wait for around 4 yrs to understand the same here is what i did.....try read textbooks that have very easy language make sure what u do.....do the related Q at the end of the chapter....not after completion of whole of renal phys....u will forget everything... and also try and discuss...tough topics with ur friend....sometimes its better to listen to someone else when u are unable to help urself..... i consolidated my phys....by simultaneous reading the renal path and renal pharmac.... i mean which drug acts where....u will now never forget the action.. try do these thing it might just help u....

haha a nice frank post here! look, i had the same feeling as you. i use the word 'had' coz i got over it. wazir kudrath helped quite a bit i'll say. as drduck said, do not lose control of the topic, and keep hammering it in when it's still fresh. do more than just the qs at the end of the chapter. never cram what you hate, it will disappear like a wave. spend extra time to hunt down the concepts. that's what will help it stick i your head. it can never get the better of you, coz you know what, IT'S ONLY RENAL!!

thanks everyone for your comments i find throughout my education, beginning in kindergarten... every time i learnt something poorly from the start, i always hated the subject, or never got a handle on the topic. ie i always hated renal in gr 8, because of that i was biased and didnt like it in med school, and the concepts were always wishywashy with me, however simple they really were. i think i will try to always love the topic im dealing with, so mentally my brain tries harder and holds on to the info i learn!! oh by the way. im using guyton for physio renal. AND IT IS A GODSEND. ofcourse, it is def not highyuield. but omg, sooooooo great. it literally is spelling out everything for me. it will give a brief paragraph, sayin something,, like the other textbooks. but rather then leaving it at that paragaraph, it will actually go on to explain what they just meant. whereas i find brs and kaplan, to just leave it at that paragraph, through in some pics, n u gota clue it together. ofcourse,,,,,,,,,, you all did guyton renal before, held on to the material and that is why review books make sense now. but i guess i had to go back to the basics *sigh* i have baby guyton as well, which is about 300 pages total for the whole subject, but very good!

constanzo is good in renal, forget ganong, this is the worse chapter in ganong textbook. Read it from constanzo textbook and if time is not a problem read lange physiology series(renal) of Vander, the best out there.

UPDATE: wow i feel stupid. i did kaplan medess for a few days.. (unfortunately i was slow) and now did kaplan notes. i feel so stupid. the kaplan notes part was soooooo SHORT. i could have done it easily in a day or two if i had just really concentrated and tried to be above all its confusion however.. i STILL recommend to everyone. to do medess if they find kaplan hard in some areas. i also used guyton physio, it helped explain renal from point a-to point z. and i felt it was all necessary, maybe not all HIGH YIELD but i think if i hadn't gotten the whole concept, i wouldnt understand that let alone the high yield!! anyways so i used guyton, added in parts to my medess if the medess stil confused me. and then i used kaplan notes i might haev spent alot of time for some on a topic, but i dont think il forget renal again. i really wish though that kaplan could be clearer at times. i feel that sometimes they try to take a 4 page concept, make it into 2 pages, which is fine its condense, but it is so confusing. that you think you are so dumb, but when you look at diff sources, you realize you had the idea the whole time. grr kaplan i hope this post, helps others, who find some topics hard. try and use other sources, to get the basics, and then go from there
