another quick question...if we have a patient with fracture or any severe joint pain then how to examine the patient ... can we ask the patient to do all range of motions, can we examine the patient as we normally would or we should skip that and write in the PN's that joint or limb could not be examined because of pain??
eg for a patient with sprain ankle or a patient with trauma to his leg and yu suspect a fracture...i mean if his leg is all red and swollen. will we encounter situations like these.

if sp is in pain.... dont do that test...... period ...... u can write it down in PN , they are just checking are u considerate and not causing more pain to them ... if test is very imp to do tell sp i understand that u are having pain but to find out wats going on i need to do .............. i will b as quick and as gentle as i can and will imm stop if it is hurting u very bad.... is it ok with u ????? if he say yes go ahead gently ... if he says no ... say alrite i understand ....... smile .... make sure u write down in PN ....

since u told him wat u want to do but as its causing pain u arent doing it .... u will get a tick even if u dont have findings for that particular test .....

thanks a lot dermatology.
any tips on my question about the support groups and resources. i'll retype the question for you-
In cases like substance abuse or domestic abuse or various neurological diseases and many other diseases, during the counseling part in the end, when we tell the patient that we can help with information about support groups and resources...do we actually have to give him the names of support groups and resources(like govt health websites maybe) or we just say that we will refer her to a social worker who can give her all this information(i dont think this is a good idea)
where can we read about what support groups to advise?
thanks a lot guyz for all the help that i am getting here.thanks and good luck to all.
