OK so I've gone through the I'll never-make-it-its-tooo-hard-for-me-I'll-sink-into-the-deep-abyess-never -to-be-seen-again-after-I-fail phase and after the countless inspiring stories (askdoc, acintya, keepgoing, gogeta (hilarious) just some of the more recent ones I've read and tons of others must of spent God knows how long reading very nice though) here...well that just does'nt sound right. After all when God is with you who DARES to be against you? Now I know I do'nt face as many challenges as some you mothers and fathers with HUGE family obligations since I am not married and all but I must say a HUGE THANK YOU to all of you folks cuz ya'll inspired me to overcome one of my biggest shortcomings...procrastination (group hug plz hehe). And just to show you what a big problem that was my test date is scheduled for August 31 Yeah I know I know it's short and what were you thinkin' huh, but I just had to do it. I've been outa school for a yr and I need to get back on track before I really forget it all. I will indeed change this date if I find myself lagging in my studies and not being on par with what I would like to get on the test at least a 90% which roughly correlates to 60% UW, 70% Kaplan, 500 NBME, 80% USMLE CD. IF however I have to change my date then I will settle for nothing less then 99% or 70% UW, 85%, 600+ NBME, 90% USMLE CD. (At ValueMD these estimates seem to be very good predictors of actual scores) I plan on going the system-wise route of studying and using Big Robbins as the template. I will sign up for UW in about a week so I will register for a 60 day trial. My other testing resources will be NBME, PreTest and Qbank. First, I wanna knock out Biochem since it is the building block of all and my personal toughest pharm is on that list too. I'll be using kaplan audio/pdf from 2004 i believe it is and study qbank and PreTest alongside and when I register for UW do that. Try and knock biochem out first. I'll do Beh. Sci bit by bit everday from the Kap. vids. so this will be a "study break" and micro the same it won't be a study break That leaves, physio, anat, neuro, pharm and path. I plan to do incorporate these subject areas with the organ systems so that everything is covered. I'll be using Kap. for anat. BRS for physio, and of course HY for neuro. and I do have Goljan audio/systemic print but I may just listen to the audio part of it we'll see. Hopefully, if all goes well I'll be doing about 30-40/day of UW and will be prepared with 2-3 weeks for a good evaluation from NBMEs. Questions for you all: 1) A lot of ppl say HY molecular bio is good to go buy should I get the 1999 or 2004 version if it is that recommended and what is the difference bet the two? 2) Should I just do Kaplan or get Lippincott or Micro made ridiculously simple? remember all my kaplan stuff is '04 video/pdf 3) Debating about Pharm kap or Lippin--I'm leaning to Lipp since it kinda tells you the imp stuff you need to know and ppl say its better then kap So please feel free to give me the good, the bad and the ugly in terms of my plans and resources guys just lemmi have it! I hope you guys just sock it to me if I seem to be slacking some day just don't hold back that's what friends do for friends right Thanking you all in advance. Alrighty then, wow that was a ton of typing...no more of the p--------word I'm off to Biochem. Wish me luck.

I like the title of your journal Welcome to the club and lets RUUUMMMBLE together! Regarding HY Mol Bio, I have heard that Kaplan Lecture Notes is more than enough. I am sticking to KLN. I use Micro MRS, and I like it a lot. It has great caricatures that help you remember it well. Pharm I am yet to do, but so far planning to use KLN. You can check with some others here at forum Good luck!!

Thanks for stopping by acintya, and yah I liked MRS too cuz of the cartoons, big cartoon fan ) I'll see how Kap. is and maybe adopt Lipp. if need be for pharm. Day 1 Jumped right into glycogenolysis/gluconeogenesis almost done revising it read the sections from Kaplan and did review Qs from pre-test and Qbank ONLY selecting the relevent ones about 25 or so not many but glad to say I got them all CORRECT woohoo...maybe they were too easy. Gonna go and memorize all the RLEs inside out before going to amino acid metabolism/carbs/fats. Happy studyn'

Great to see ur determination. I`m also scheduled for late August (23rd). And I guess I`m sort of in the same situation. Did one reading of pretty much everything except patho over more than a school year with several huge breaks ... and I really need to do it this time. I am using the same materials u`ve mentioned (plus the physio I/V qbank). I tried to use katzung review while I was doing pharm and I found it helpful. But from what I`ve heard and seen, pharm kaplan and FA is more than enough. I`m doing physio right now which I hope to finish by tonight or tomorrow. How long are u planning to spend after biochem ? Can I join when you do genetics? Good luck studying.
