KLN is main book ppl have suggested Lippincott does help but u still have to edit information and tailor it according ur needs and reqirements focus on Rate limiting steps and their consequences and deficiencies. For Genetics Kaplan is the best and most of all Enuf.

thanks nnl, p4a99. ok, so i'll stick with KLN. in fact, i have lippincott, and when going through it today, i found the pictures excellent. i mean those darn micro micro structures which are so hard to imagine and visualize, but so crucial to understand are very well depicted by the artist. one drawback with lipincott though is that it doesn't cover genetics. but as nnl said, if KLN is sufficient, i'm no fool to drag extra stuff and learn.[the more you learn, the more you forget, after all ] btw, p4a99, what did you mean 'the biochem forum is haunted'???!! and oh, thanks for the link it was helpful[dunno how i missed it]

u r totally wrong, biochem is considered highly tested & the q r gaining in sophastication f we would rank the high yield subjects 1. physio & patho & pharma ( equally important) 2. biochem & micro & behsci ( equally important) low yield: anatomy ( though neuro is more emphasized) now about biochem prep: 4 me it was NOT easy becuz my background is weak on it & it wasnt that much emphasized in medschool may ur situation is better than me however i started the notes & audio & done few chapters then didnt complete & started by system wise schedule but regarding genetics i finish it all the notes & audio r very good & enogh though the hardest pit was population genetics do more mcq in this area otherwise genetics is intersting hope this help

Hey Santorini. Aporw pws mporei kapoios na sygentrwthei kai na diavasei gia to step1 to kalokairi stin Santorini Anyway. I am now finishing my review of biochemistry. It took me about 2 weeks. (KLN, dvds, Lippincot's as a supplement and pretest for questions). The mol biology staff were rather easy and basic. The metabolism section requires a lot of memorisation. In a few days I'll start genetics which should take me another week.

well, yoga, i do not disagree with you. you've got the weightage about right.

hello perfectcube.it is rather difficult to study here in santorini but i am pretty determined and i am trying really hard not to get distracted. i figured too that 2 weeks should be enough. maybe i ll need a couple of days more since biochem is not my favorite topic. when u are reffering to dvds do u mean the kaplan video lectures or something else? good luck with your studying

HI Paheli i am also preparing 4 step 1 i red Lippincott page by page not because it is important to do it this way but i didn't ask for openions to tell you the truth you did the right thing. My advice is no to read it page by page but use it when ever you need it . TO know the basics You have to be focused what type of questions are asked in biochm study and know well the enzymes and pathways which have relationship to a certain disease when i say you have to know, it means like if somebody askes your mother's name or to make it more closer your name, you can say it right away questions in step 1 are designed this way. by the way it is my second attempt. eg in Paroxysmal nocturnal hemoglobinuria(PNH) what is deficient and how? the RBCs are sensitive to the lytic activity oe complement due absence of DAF or cd 55 which is membrane inhibitor of reactive lysis or cd 59 a c8 binding protein USMLE like to ask what is wrong ?where? and how in the same question in one minute.
