hello guys.
my expereince was not at all very traumatic but i did some mistakes.
overall as everyone says practise really matters. i did all the cases of UW twice .once with my husband and second time with a friend n that really helped because on the day of the exam it was just like i was doing my practise session again. time was sufficient for almost all the cases. i was able to finish many cases before time.
but i dont know how other people feel but to me about half of sp's were incooperative with sullen moods. i tried to be nice to one or two but then i just completed my qs list. they just dont tell unless u specifically ask it. only one patient was good n she offered some info on herself otherwise i had to dig out teh history. UW pneumonics really helped. i wrote down SIQORAAA n PAMHUGFOSS b4 entering teh room n that helped alot.
mistakes
forgot to ask sexual history in one pt.
trie dto shake hand with one who had pain.
took otoscope instead of ophthalmoscoe but then just went on n did ear exam n then started eye exam again.
overall it went alright. n teh proctors at chicago centre r REALLY strict. sp follow their instructions exactly. they r very quick in giving warnings.

good luck on your result.
i want to ask you about writing patint note,i write in sentences and it hardly ever fits the given space.i like writing on bullet points but it wastes the space on right hand side.
can you tell from your experience,which will be a better way?

one more qt.
while examining,do we need to ask each time we palpate,asultate or percuss for their permission-it does so on the UW tapes.
also,when we have 2-3 systems to be examined,is it ok if we put the stetho for a fraction over all spaces over heart and move on or do we need to spend atleast a second pretending to listen to it?

According to your center experince I might think not to do CS at Chicago, that is one of my choice in mind .

if u think u wont be able to manage ur notes in space better write in bullet form. that looks neat n u can use the right side of paper too. just think u r writing in two columns . i tooo did like this. just give small headings of history n underline. it looks better. time is usually enuf . and just try to write DD n investigations first. so that in case u ve less time at the end u dont miss that.

while examinations just ask them permission before starting n then just behave like a comentator. tell them wtever u do. its nt like asking permissions again n again its just that they know wtever u do.

thanks for answering my questions.
am yet to manage time in fatigue kind of cases,i spend first 10 minutes asking and councelling and the do a bad examination in 3-3.5 minutes.Bad meaning i just put steth for a fraction of second-my husband feels as if i am doing a formality(Sp will get the same impression)
can you tell us your experience with an unco-operative patient?

dr smal i think when u will do with sp u wont take that loong coz most of the time there r not many things u need to examine. only teh neuro case becomes hard to finish coz many times u need to do chest exam with that. n sps even if they act rude they still do wtever u ask so dont worry abt that. just keep practising. best of luck.

well i think it doesnt matter wherever u taek exam. just be well prepared and try to listen to proctors. best of luck to u all.

some body tell me will i pass?
i tried to shake hand of a patient whose hand was weak............
forgot to ask sexual history in a patient.
dropped a napkin n tried to pick it up.
in pt notes i wrote pack instead of pot ...................other than that i wrote very good notes.
in counselling i told teh patient that it might be somethiong like a stroke..........n she stared at me ,gave me alook that was soooo ............ i dont knwo wt tosay. although i quickly told her that we need a ct scan to be sure but i cant forget her look.
except that i dint forget anything. i knocked, washed hands n drapped in all patients. councelled in every one.did complete physical exam in every patient. wrote good notes.can i pass it?
