agree with B...ACE inhibitors are useful to prevent the full blown developement of nephrotic syndrome...besides protein restricted diet is recommended in pts. with nephrotic syndrome because excess protein in trhe urine can cause tubular damage.

shaking head ...
what can PRECIPITATE an ARF in a nephrotic Sdr?
ACEInhib.---->is considered helpful in nephrosis !!!

  #7

if u r trying to Hint Towards Hypovolemia then the Loops R going to cause that although ACEI can not help in Nephrotic cause it can lead to the Accumulation of K + therefore being avoided in the setting of Renal Failure. Now an Increased Nitrogen Catabolism can lead to Hypoalbuminemia due to decreased Dietary Protein Restrictions. then thats a possibilty. But Loops r indicated in ARF esp Furosemide

Gogeta hook on phonic style

A- he is already loosing protein, he may go into hypercalcemia, and edema but not acute renal failure.

B- yes, is contraindicated,

C- nop, can give you muscle problems and liver problems but not ARF

D- You Tx the patient with that so he can pee, so no

d?

Answer is D)
High dose diuretics can precipitate ARF in nephrotics b/c the intravascular volume cannot be defended by hypoalbumin-emia. Choises A, B, C--> generally considered helpful in nephrosis although dietary prot. restriction needs monitoring to guard against malnutrition!
Did like the Qs though...

ohhhhhhhhhh......that was really a nice Q,

i went for C.....i thought for lipid lowering drugs, i dont know why but thought.....
lipid lowering drugs increase more lipoproteins than cholesterol.....more proteins for excretion....more load on glomerulus.........ARF.....

this may sound very bad....i felt like sharinggringringrin

i will read about it.....as i cudnt understand much

really good Q

  #13

well yeah loop diuretics can cause pre-renal failure, but that has nothing to do with nephrotic syndrome....i dn't know, its a very vague question.
