In Kaplan te most comman cause of Endocarditis in drug addicts is Pseudomonas
On the other hand in UW, endocarditis in drug addicts is Staph aureus untill proved otherwise
So What is the ans

Kaplan says S. aureus too.

Acute Infective Endocarditis
S. aureus is the most common cause
IV drug use is the major risk factor
I'm pretty sure it's staph aureus, and it occurs in the RIGHT sided heart valves for IVDU.

In cardio section in Ped..In the Endocrditis topic, so I guess the conflict is in Kaplan, too
Anyway ill stick to staph aureus..

interesting. it says Pseudomonas and Serratia are seen more commonly in IVDUs. SO maybe this is true only for the pediatric population -adolescents who use drugs? But Staph for adult IVDUs?
