FRIENDS,
can anybody tell me how kaplan med essentials differ from kaplan notes?
and if someone is reading from kaplan notes,should he also go thru med essentials?
i would appreciate any help telling me about kaplan med essentials

Its a good book like FA of Kaplan Lecture Notes. Best would be to give good reads of KLN at least 3 times then do FA or if you have time constraints then you can do KLN 2 times and do Medessentials adding missing stuff from KLN. Some parts are good some are deficient. Like Biochemistry and Immuno is good if you want to skip the volume of text written in KLN but Micro is deficient. So, advisable would be that you do KLN and compare that section with KME and come to your own decision from where you want to read that section.

kaplan medessential is concise
u can say its summary 4 the notes
also it is divided 2 system based chapters=>contrast 2 subject based notes
first there r chapters regrading general principles in path, pharma, behsci, immun,...........
then it starts the system based chapetrs
i like it more than FA
but u know FA is more popular
there thing in FA not in kaplan medessential & vice versa

Seriously, just browse your situation & with 1 fail, one to loose exm fees, you should seriously think about kap course if you like, now has discount promotion ends 30 June. Not going to link for, you seem know it.
Try to book exm only when good study almost there with good NBME .
Re med Ess , part of it can get from some Goodgirl here at support forum.

I already have the part of medess. from the good girl's link and all kaplan notes,right now i'm not thinking about taking any online course,i think i have enuf material to go thru.

hi there.
i just got medess not too long ago and love it.
i think it is great that is only 500 pages of kaplans most hy.
i have read over my kaplan notes once already. but what i am now doing is, reading my kaplan notes again, and adding any info into my medess that it doesnt already contain.
i know people will argue and say medess is the CONDENSED version of kaplan notes to begin with. however, i would rather add oh even an extra 200 pages of notes to make it all kaplan and still condensed. rather then having about 7 kaplan books, each withabout 400 pages. you know waht i mean?
this way at the end of adding in all my notes, i will have one fat medess book that has everything kaplan has, so i never need to review my kaplan books again. only medess with my first aid.
also medess is amazingly organized. i for one, was terrified of studying organ wise. well medess got rid of that fear for me
for instance, i am now doing physiology kaplan, the endocrine portion.
when i add notes into the medess, since their physiology portion is only 10 pages, i have to add in notes into the medess organ-endocrine portion.
so this way i am also loearning it organ wise, without eralizing.
similarly my reproductive notes from kaplan books, have to go into the organ system-reproductive. and if i felt brave enough i could just add in my repro notes from the path kaplan book-and repro would be done for good!
i hope this helps you.
keep in mind, any advice i have ever gotten on medess was
"read it after you have done your kaplan, its concise, dont add to it"
i just thought, if i did that, i would be scared, i forgot something small and trivial in the regular kaplan textbook-and would be scared that fact would mess me up. so i would have to reread and reread kaplan books and medess. so i thought id kill two birds with one stone.
anywho.. i am doing physio endo right now , adding it into my medess. n its goin fine. i havent even written that much. medess reli does cover most of it.
and i printed out the pdf version one sided, so i have plenty of space to add in stuff. if anything, since i bound the book-i can always add in pages, if i run out

can u please tell me where did u get complete medess.notes from?
i have a thread that good girl posted from which i downloaded medess. but somebody told me that's not complete medess.

if anyoen wants a printed out and bound copy of medess i have it and will send it to you if you pay shipping....i dont need any money for it just want to get rid of it and its better to send it to someone than throw it away

hi great people ,as far as my outlook concern ,it is not good book ,it is the best book as i have done it but after kaplan lecture notes not before and first aid my exam is also very near and my combination is KME+first aid and kaplan q bank .thanks alot

hey everyone...
great i am so glad my advice helped. i was going crazy myself about medess, as people said FA was important, medess wasn't
but i think its just on your opinion. my opinion is, "hello i have a book that is 600 pages with all of kaplan" i personally consider it a goldmine.
but i think people just think" i already read kaplan audio and notes, why go through medess , that is too tedious"
i am a little nitpicky and like bibles on everything. so if i have one book with all of kaplan , iw oudl rather focus my time and energy and also memorize that. n hey, if people have already focused on kaplan notes and audio, the medess shouldn't be too time consuming right?!
anywho, that bumba link, thanks to goodgirl is the only thing i have. which is yes 455 pages. im sorry, i had no clue there are possibly more? i will try to ask around. but everyone i know has it downloaded, and that is how much they have.
please dont stress about finding the perfect book. use this for now, if you get a better copy later, yey, otherwise you have 455 pages that are amazing, and worth it!
i asked a question in forums, but i guess someone could reply in here also.
those who will add to medess, and use it as their kaplan bible. are you going to also add whatever fa is missing into fa?!
i was gonig to, but i personally think fa is missing so much info. not necessairily high yield info, but the info that i need to complete the links. so it would take me to long to add everything to fa. i was thinking of just adding to medess, and just using fa, as is.
what are others doing. in terms of medess and fa. please let me know!
advice from those who have taken step 1 is appreciated even more so .

to starbrite520 ,hi ,how are you KPALN MEDESSENTIALS is the best book to save time ,energy as well as another reading to kaplan lecture notes ,my exam is on 29th august and my combination is first aid +kaplan medess ,as i already read KLN more than 3 times and KLN is away from the last 3 maonths focus on these materials and doing KAPLAN Q BANK and i will do UW if i would have money and time .takecare and all the best
