a brief recommendation to you all:

(set #1):

1. REM (try that "leaving New York" song for best results...)
2. Bic Runga (any song by her is breathtaking; listen to BIRDS)
3. Dido (voice of success and tone of heaven)
4. Pavorotti ( you cant go wrong with him)
5. Denis Rossos ("golden bird of Helios")
6. Bocelli (a visionary in soprano)
7. Sarah Brightman (if you want magic...)
8. Sarah Mclachlan ( many good songs...and beautiful style)
9. Anastacia (at your own risk- only certain songs)
10. Cher (a voice like no other....powerful for any battle)

I would be adding other sets! These are my recommendations to you all- your special EKX music review.

Feel free to give input or add to the list of USMLE music...good luck!

REM is a legendary band from the 90s. Dido is a pretty singer from the UK with the voice. Anastacia is that american dancer turned into a successful singer and then got breast cancer and then made a comeback. Rest i dunno

You have a pretty good recommendation JackofKnives; mainly rock/metal songs...

Out of your list, I enjoy mudvayne and papa roach the most.

Also thanks for explaining REM, Dido, and Anastacia to our friend.
As for Bic Runga, she has a pop-rock-vocal-blues integrative style; she is half-Malasian and half New-zealander; her mother was a Malaysian cabaret singer i believe. She writes all her lyrics, arranges the music- plays it also, and sings very sweetly. Bocelli is a blind opera singer with a beard...he is very prodigious in his singing and sparks emotion into the listener; the same goes for Demis Rossos- especially noteworthy is his song "Goodbye my love goodbye"; Sarah Brightman is another opera singer; I highly recommend her Phantom of the Opera...in her best singles. Sarah Mclachlan is kind of fold-country pop singer; her first album was on top of the charts- very emotive voice; I will post a 2nd set of usmle music soon!

i was just listening to some music after ages, and it's amazing how great i feel. haven't felt this way in ages. so i want to begin a thread where people can share the songs that make them feel great after a energy-sapping day with our books. i'm such a music-lover, can't believe the mles kept me away for so long. won't let that happen again.smiling face

music can be a great source of strength and stamina - something we all need tons of right now. it can make you smile, laugh loud, remove those wrinkles/crinkles from your forehead. it can simply empty your head for a few mins, something you just are not able to do sometimes. it can make you say spontaneously 'Thank God'

so let's share the feeling!

I'd love you to want me - Lobo [I'm listening to this right this minute, on repeat]

I have a dream - Abba/Westlife

[I have loads more, will post a bit at a time]

Wow, i too like jimi hendrix, def leppard, santana, enigma and deep forest. haven't heard enough of the rest to know if i like them. generally i don't enjoy too much of metal. it needs some odd mood.

New or Classic Santana? No Robbie Robertson? His music has a real down to erth, native American (First Nation, Aboriginal) vibe to it that is really awesome.
