Hey guys, Just woke up and checked the OASIS and I passed thanks to the red screen. Well it said that I passed CS and they didnt allow re exam coz I passed. and i'm kinda relieved coz i'd made some mistakes in the exam and was really worried..... The Prep, Well I think it was less than 15 days and the books i used was First aid and UW. I musta done mostly from first aid and practiced the 31 cases in it in one week with my cousin who was 15 yrs old and that guy he was really into it with all the acting and all, he even painted his knee with water colours to make it look like a rash so this is all thanks to him. The bottom line is that you can practice with anyone not necessary a med student and that was it after i came to the US I didnt do any practice. Just read those two books and be familiar with the dd's. The Pre-exam, Took it in the first week of may. I was stayin in NJ and had this really nice guy a family friend dirve me to philly at 5.30 in the mornin and we got to the centre 30 min before time. I have to tell you the proctors there are very very friendly and from there till the start of the exam is all that you guys know..... The Exam, Well same ole same ole 12 cases and two of them wasn't in the first aid or the UW but it were cases you'd see as a physician but sinceI had not practiced it got really worried.Finished all cases at least 3 min before time, forgot to take cranial nerve exam in one CNS case I thought it needed, forgot to ask a question in a gynac case which i had takes when i was in med school. I was worried more of my hand writing and I'm not so fast on the PC so i chose to write but it was ok 10 min is a lot of time so write patiently. When i was done I was really worried coz around 4 cases were bad and 2 cases were very good and the rest average but it turned out ok. My Thought, Having red the previous posts and with my own experience I think guys it's more with how you interact witht the pt and and how attentive you r to their need's like being polite and summing up history askin if there are any questions or concerns really helps coz a lot of people miss a lot of things and as long as it's not a blunder they dont' mind I guess so make sure you get to practice at least 10 or 15 cases and I guess around 15 days should do it or depending on how each person studies. Weird one. In philly after the exam was done I came out and I am from India and there was this Indian guy waiting in the lobby og the bld I saw him and thought he was waiting for some relative but then when I came out and was talkin to someone I knew he came up to me and said that he had his exam the next day and what kinda cases came. I told him it's the usual from the FA and UW but then he asked me to name them and i refused to do so because we rent suppose to but he kept asking me again and again .... guys' the exam is not that hard so pls dont do this kinda thing it's really stupid. If you cant' take cases the one's you probably musta taken as a med student then there's sometin wrong here so quit asking ppl who r done with the exam with what came at least not strangers........ A thought, I have been writing here since my first year and there r ppl who send private emails and questions and never post here. guys dont do that every one's in the same boat so quit being a snob and write it in the open also instead of just asking all the time if you know sometin do be sure to put it down so other's can read too and questions welcome. Congrats to those who passed and good luck to you all

Congrats! Kakamath. I also keep saying to everyone ,not to try to find out about the cases. the whole purpose of CS is to evaluate YOU THE PHYSICIAN ,as A PHYSICIAN. I really like the idea of SP s . We never had any in India. Sometimes I feel bad for all the patients who are examined again and again by so many students....

I dont agree with you. It is totally not allowed to discuss the specifics of the case, but the general information would be more than happy to give out. I am not going to answer that I had this particular case or that particular case to any stranger on the road and I dont thing u'd be stupid engough to do so either. And If he is a doctor he should know how to examing any case that he sees in a clinical setting, if he gets a case that he's never seen before in his practice what is he going to do catch some one and ask him to to go examine the cae ?????????

i really like what you had to say about writing things in public, so everyone can benefit from questions/weaknesses. I like to be reminded that our goal here is not to preserve our ego and to hide our weaknesses.. this is how life-threatening mistakes are made in a real hospital setting. I think it's good to clear up our questions and make our insecurities our strengths.. that's my two cents of philosophy for the day. thanks Kakamath!! you really said it well.. i hope i see red soon too!
