Are we supposed to provide counselling on smoking, drinking or safe sex whenever these risk factors are present? I was practicing an acute appendicitis case with severe pain with my friend, and she suggested that it was not appropriate to do the counseling since the patient is in severe pain. Does that make sense?
Anyone?

Yes it does the pt. might need surgery and there's no time for all that. If u want to just mention that once we have dealt with theissue at hand I would like to talk to u about ur whatever habit. Only if u absolutely want to. Otherwise what's the pt. if th eappendix is gonna kill him first? winkgrin
