Hi Ivonne, dont worry...maybe u werent fresh enuf or just had a bad day...y dont u try a different form? ur preparation seems to be good considering ur uw scores. and NBME is not predictive for many ppl. My score was 520 on form 4 of step 1 NBME but i got 99 in the final exam...and there r many ppl for whom nbme has been disappointing. I would suggest tht u study for 2-3 days,study books like first aid or something which give u a complete review and then try another NBME form and then make any changes in ur current plans. I guess everyone would agree with me when i say that u have been pretty effiicient so far...

nbme shows you a table of your weak areas when they give you the score. i have to say one thing: i did all those three tests that they have for step2ck and each test showed me different: i would score the lowest in say pediatrics in one nbme, and i would get an asterics in another... so i really didn't pay much attention to that, but prefered to do a complete revision. also, i scored very high on nbme1 abt a month before the test, and then my score would go lower with each nbme i took thereafter. i still think nbme 2 was closest to my real score. in my oppinion, nbme3 is the hardest. take that one as the worst case scenario.
you have worked very hard. i personally did only ck notes and uw. nothing else. and apparently it was enough. you have already done more than that.

so ivonne, dont rush, take your time. you have plenty of time still. and try to keep your head cool. you want a 99. youll get a 99! good luck. i am gonna tell myself the same thing and move on with step3 prep... no more breaks. we have to give it our best. its all up to us. its a fight against ourselves. we're better than they think. "i can and i will"..  !!!

Thanks friends for your words, Alexa very inspirational indeed and i think we should be consistent with our decisions and as i said when i started this journal i don't want nothing less that 99, it is a personal aspiration of academical performance, it is also different and personal the test taking skills but if we want something very bad we will find the way to achieve it!!! i don't want just to get over with this exam i want to ace it!!!
To be honest i was slaking off a little (seems that this journal doesn't reflect that...) and i know that there are concepts that i still need to nail down.
Will follow my original plan of starting kaplan Qbank along with second reading of the kaplan notes. Any advice is very welcome anyone.

It's good to know which areas one's weak on. So, take the greatest profit from that NBME test...
You'll do great... for you're carrying out an excellent preparation!

cheer up Ivonne....you did lot of effort and hard work and don't you ever think that this effort will go away..NEVER......., it will alllll pay off on time,
and it's good to know your weak areas so you can be stronger
take it to your advantage Ivonne and keep going on.....

Thanks dear friends for your amazing support!
I took 2 days off  but i feel a lot better today. i started off kaplan qbank today(80% random, timed and unused Q but 25% in Ob-gyn) and found out again my weakest area Ob-gyn so the plan is before doing more Q to be strong in that subject. Will read again the notes(second time) before watching the specific DVD and then do UW again(second time in tutor mode) and continue with kaplan Qbank. Happy studying everyone!

Hey u scored more than me silly and i scored that just before the test and got 88. Remember MF got 490 and then a 92...so u'll absolutely get high 90's if u don't stop BELEIVING! Keep the faith, IV! GL.

this is a classic triad hun , for all USMLErs , 1-feeling like a crap as the day nears
2- the flare subsides as you start the second regimen of the reading 3- symptoms go away the day after the exam diagnosis made by calculating the days left , its should be <25... and the treatment is only reassurance :P
so hun , as a doc , Im doing my duty and reassuring that YOU WILL DO ABSOLUTELY FINE !!!!!!!

Just taking some time off the journals and participating in the discussion forum which is great also getting back to work full time. Unexpected things came up so had to take care of them(bills...). Unfortunately i haven't paid for the test yet...but i didn't stop working on ck. Just hitting the kaplan qbank and learning new things from it everyday.

Hey dear friends just stopped by to thank you all for your caring words. I am so tired studying for this ck that i can not wait to get over with it but life and bills don't forgive and it is expensive to live in this country specially when there is no family around anyways the most important is to be positive and enjoy this process under present circumstances.
I didn't plan to study this long for this exam but I have no choice right now until my bills will give me a break . Today something good came up but until exam is paid i can not say when my D day will be...until then I am working full time and still hitting kaplan qbank (scoring 78 average random, unused and timed mode) and re-reading own notes. After kaplan Qbank will do NBME form 2.

Hi Ivonne, keep studying it whenever you have time. Whatever time you put on the study will pay off on the test date. The more you study, the higher score you will get, guranteered. Best of luck.
