Foreign body aspiration is the most common cause of recurrent pneumonia in an otherwise healthy 3-year old child. Because of the lung's anatomy.... Many times when a child presents with pneumonia, a history of choking can be elicited.Immunodeficiency disorders are characterized by recurrent infections, usually by opportunistic organisms and failure to thrive. Cystic fibrosis similarly results in failure to thrive.Pneumonia is usually caused by Pseudomonas. Malabsorption and clubbing are often seen. Chediac-Higashi syndr. is aut/ recess. and partial albinism is key to diagnosis. Giant granules are seen in neutrophils. Recurrent infections are common. Congenital lung abnormalities present at a much earlier age. E.
