I've never seen that in any of my immune textbooks, its not like NK and CTL have C3b receptors or anything. As far as I know vira are neutralized by IgG and probably IgM, if they can be neutralized by complements, i.e. none specifically, we would no longer be susceptible to vira infections.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />
The only function I could think of that is indirectly related to vira clearage if how we get rid of antigen complex, then C1, C4, C2 and C3 are involved.

Here is mine. Parham P215. I paraphrase. Complement is involved in the uptake of antigen complexes (no where has mentioned complements directly facilitate virus neutralization or destruction). First IgG binds to epitopes on a virus, neutralize them, creates binding site for C1q, starting cascade and the establishment of C4b2a3b complex and there is 3b bound to the virus as well. 3b binds to CR1 on the on erythrocytes, transported to liver and spleen. Here antigen is removed by macrophages expressing Fc regions and for bound complement components, in this case the C4b2a3b complex.
Pts without C4b and C3b cannot clear antigen complexes and get SLE, among others kidney failure.
This is not restricted to virus, involves also exotoxin, bacteria etc.
