Hi,I failed the step 2 Ck component end of february but I never lost hope and now I decided to give step 2 cs first. Can anybody tell me if a failed attempt in step 2 ck is somewhere reported later and will it badly influence my interviews if they ever invite me to one?

Yes, the failure is reported to the residency programs, and some of them do not interview people who did not pass all the steps on first attempt (they even state that at their website). But there are a lot of doors to knock on, don't worry, just do your best, you'll be fine.

Thank you for your prompt answer.I worry, but not that much since I got now a wonderful research job in the OB/Gyn departement where I want later to apply for residency. My boss told me, that I have know already my feet in the departement so I could switch to residency next year. Should I tell him about my failed attempt,I havn`t done it yet.He is not the program director but works closely with him.

Don't say anything unless he asks (never lie!). Once you pass all the steps, give him the good news, and mentions "by the way, there was one failed attempt" - justify it, if you think you should - "do you think that will hurt my application?" Chances are, if you have high scores and they like your job as a researcher, he'll say "Nah, that's OK".

Think about all the tests YOU PASSED duting college years. Think about how good it will be for your patients to have you as a doctor. Think of all the times you were successful in your life. Think about how many times a scientist tries something new before there is actually a satisfying result. And don't think about anything else, just focus on studying and giving your best. (And don't think I am too bossy! ) Good luck!

You are right,Arlene.By the way,did you already give your step cs exam or probably all the steps? I worked as a doctor OB/GYN in Germany for 5 years,it shouldn`t be a problem the step 2 cs but a lot of things are so different here (and better!).And then the language. I hope I will not stand in front of the SP ,silent......
