Hi! guys,

I took my exam a week ago in Atlanta. I was there a day before the exam and booked a hotel close to the exam center. I reached the exam center half an hour before time, but somehow forgot to take the steth!shocked, but the proctors were kind enough to lend me one.
The procedure which is followed throughout the exam is meticulous and you are absolutely at comfort and well informed about what will happen next, execpt for what case you have ofcourse.
SP's are unpredictable, they can be good to you, behave indifferent, angry etc etc. Accent is not a problem. They dont volunteer any information. You have to ask the specific question to get the information. SP's ask few questions which are very simple and can be answered the way mentioned in first aid and UW.
I was a little self conscious during the first patient encounter, but after that I think it was all mechanical. Time just passes quickly and you will be out in no time.
I had read a few questions asking about the food in the exam center, so no problems even with that, there is vegetarian food.
At this point of time I have a mixed feeling and just cannot recollect about what I did and what I did not. So the best thing for me I think is to wait and wait for the results. I will definately write my experience with all the extra details once I recieve my results.
I used first aid mainly and also UW. cases were mostly from them execpt for 3 cases which was not from both of them.
I will see you guys soon after I get my results.
good luck to all the exam takers.

Hi! kity,

That is absolutely a normal feeling before the exam, but keep yourself calm during the exam. Just keep practising the cases as much as possible and you will definately do good. Keep a smile on your face, be calm and confident and above all be kind just like you would be to a real patient. Read the differential diagnosis part thoroughly so that you know atleast 3 of them when you enter the room, and then your questions can be based on them.
dont worry most of the patients answer your questions. Like I told you before I really dont know what I did was enough or not, so cant comment on the time.
cases were doable. Just keep calm and keep practising.
good luck to you

Hi Asha

Is the patient note template same as the documentation of the case and do we have to submit the PN template(mentioned in UW)too or is it just for our use to write the doc of the case? Please could you help?

Thanks

Thanks for the good wishes guys. Well, you will have scrap paper for each case on which you can jot down points when you are taking history and when you come out you will have a patient note template(just like the one shown in UW & FA) on which you write in detail and submit it( I think you will know exactly what I am talking about if you watch the orientation CD sent to you )and also if you prefer you can type your patient note on the computer which will have the same template. The time for writing or typing the patient note remains the same so you have to decide before hand what you are good at. You submit both the scrap paper as well as the patient note to the proctors.
Good luck to all of you

Thanks a lot Asha

Scrap paper is not for evaluation right,I mean do we have to write legibly on that one.I hope not.

Thanks

No the scrap paper is not for scoring your performance, it is shredded.

Hi Asha, GL to you for the results. Did you get a phone case and did they give you the name of the perons you are calling? Thanks.

Hi! Dinie,

Surprisingly I did not have any phone case so I dont have a clear idea about that, but I guess you'll have doorway information like other cases.

good luck to you

Dear all,

Well, after a grueling wait finally it is over. I PASSED! I cant describe the feeling when I saw those words!
I called up ECFMG and they told me that Emails will be sent through out the day. That means people who did not receive their results till now can expect it later in the day.
Good luck you guys with the steps and match.
