A 45 year old woman consults the physician because chronic fatigue. A review of systems reveals lont standing stomach problems characterized by slow digestion and delayed emptying of her stomach. A complete blood count bemonstrates a moderately severe megaloblastic anemia.
Serum Vitamin B12 level is 85pg/mL;
Serum Folate is 3 ng/mL; and
serum Iron is 105 mg/dL.

Autoantibodies to Intrinsic factor are detected in the serum. A biopsy of the stomach is most likely to show with of the following?

A. Acute erosive gastritis
B. Gastric atrophy
