Olivo, I am taking cs in 2 weeks. Working on that full time.
Rezaaa, like I said in the first post, memorize the screenings (preventive medicine) and the appropiate ages to start tests
About diabetes, got 2 questions regarding metformin.
I think you should spend the last week reenforcing internal medicine, because is the overwhelming majority in every block.
I wish you good luck, and keep yourself calm, you are prepared and you can do well in this test.

Simple2, welcome to the forum.
I did step 1 first, and then preparing ck was a breeze. Step 1 preparation will get you at least half of the preparation for ck.
For ck, kaplan notes + uw are good enough, and I think that is a concensus among most of the forum users. I never used kaplan q-bank for ck, so I don't know how it compares to uw.
I am glad to share with all of you arlete, good luck in your tests.

maybe cardiac pathophysiology to have a clear understanding of valvular diseases and CHF, but to be honest, I did not do it. If you have taken step 1 recently, you should be ok.

Simple2, my knowledge about the canadian test is very limited. Sorry I can't help you on that.
Go to the website of Kaplan medical and there you can get their material, although a lot of people get them from online auction sites.
Choose one source of study and stick to it, because otherwise you are risking to spend money in books that you probably won't have time or energy to read. Kaplan has been enough for me so far, but a lot of people in the forum likes FA and others sources.
Good luck.

dr Dove, my superstitious side won't let me take NBME OR look at the orientation CD that USMLE sends you. It worked for step 1, and now I hope it will work for step 2.
I don't know about those scores, although I know they are very well correlated with the real thing, so I figure I would not put that pressure on me. At the end it all depends on what score you are aiming for, so good luck and hope you do well in your NBME!

I just took the exam on July 27th.
My test was heavily weighted with Neuro, Psych, Rheumatology, and Peds. I would say if you put neuro, psych, and rheumatology together it would be 30-40% of my exam. Kinda wierd.
Some blocks were tougher than others. The thing i wasn't expecting was the time factor. I finnished Step 1 with ample time to spare, but I used every second on this exam and on my last block I didn't have time to even re-look at items I marked.
My best advice is to do the Kaplan Q bank (or USMLE World, whichever you prefer - I prefer Kaplan...) and I would just do as many Qs as possible and when you get some wrong keep doing those Qs until you get them right!!! It will pay off because I know I had at least 10-20 Qs that were fairly ver batem from the Q bank. Also the USMLE CS has a couple repeats from there.
My scores on prep Qs were:
USMLE World 78% 100% done
Kaplan Q Bank 77% 100% finnished
Kaplan Q Book 82% finnished about 20% of the book
NBME 1 4 weeks prior 680 (254)
USMLE CD two nights prior: 45/46, 44/46, and 43/46
I hope this is helpful, If you have any questions please don't hesitate to message me.
Cheers!

dr_comet, I kept a preparation journal from january/15 until the day before my test. I don't know how to insert a link here to the thread, but should be easy to find if you click under my nickname (where it says "topics"), and there you can find detailed information on my crusade
I wish you good luck in your preparation, and if you have unanswered questions after reading the journal, I will be glad to help.

Sorry Dr_comet! my prep for step 1 was very long (about a year, maybe more), and I went to a Kaplan live prep for 6 weeks before the test. Thankfully all the effort was worthy. I never used the step 1 dvd, I saw the ones for ck, but they can take a lot of time and I just quit watching them and kept reading.
I read the kaplan lecture notes about 3 times, and the last 3 weeks I only did kaplan q-bank day and night. I never used first aid, nbme, or the cd that usmle sent me.
Hope it helps!
