My test was yesterday, and today, for the first time in six months I am watching tv free of any guilt.

I want to thank God first, because I could feel Him acting upon me yesterday, allowing me to think clearly, and I bet the rain of prayers that my family and friends sent Him had something to do too.

To all of you preparing this test, I want you to believe me: YOU CAN DO IT, ck is one of those test that are very straightforward, no that evil step 1 that leaves you with two good options most of times.

I got several ct and ecg, about 7 of each, but nothing too hard. A lot of preventive medicine and screening recommendations, so I would advise to learn that by heart, because is easy and, if you have practice medicine in another country, you can not answer the questions based on the reality, but on the accepted guidelines.

I got very little psychiatry. I would say I had more surgery. I had an x-ray of a kid with slipped capitae of the femur, really nice image (not too nice for the kid).

Diabetes is the subject that they asked me the most, mostly treatment. Rheumatology was also in evry block, about 3 questions in each.

Ob-gyn was very similar to UW. If you answer all your questions and read EVERY explanation, you surely won't miss the Kaplan notes.

I hope my experience can help anybody. Thanks to all of you who had the kindness to share this road with me. I learned a lot from this forum, and let's keep it like it is: A friendly place in the web that show us that we are not alone in this quest.

Good luck , cristina! Just one query, if you have done ONLY UW, but thoroughly for all the subjects...will one miss Kaplan notes?

Thanks christina for the experience you shared.May God give you a great score.....

coolmavs, I would say that you need to back yourself up whit at least one decent reading of the kaplan notes. I would not dare to go to any of the steps just with UW. When I started answering UW I was supposed to have an idea about the right answer, because I had read my notes, but even so, I found myself guessing way too many questions, and afterwards, the explanation would made me say "dah". Having said that, ob-gyn is an excepton, just because they don't really have a lot to ask, and once you read your explanations, you get the algoritms fairly quick.

Thanks everyone for the good wishes, and feel free to ask any question.

hi Christina..mine is June end and I am taking my CS on 22nd.....please advice as I have finished my first reading of kaplan and doing uw doing 2nd time only the incorrect ones.Is one week enough for me last prep....and what should I emphasize more the last days,I mean any topics in particular or subject..........thank you

  #13

Jesussaves, I think that the last week energy is best invested on Internal medicine, after all, is more than 60% of the test. Endocrinology, cardiology and rheumatology were the most heavily tested in my particular case.

Doc-clotaire, I hope your test goes well, and I guess we'll receive our scores around the same day, and they wil be above 90!!!

thank you so much Cristina Wish you a great score!!

This is one of the few experience posts that matches the "fairy tales" I hear from US graduates as well as expectations of all of us who are yet to face the exam in the near future... I am also GLAD to see that someone got a positive mood from the exam, not a pain of torture...
Good luck with the score!!!

I took my CK exam on June 12th and I agree with Cristina: The hand of the Lord was upon me. I´m sure I beat it, now enjoying the freedom, and waiting for Cs on september. Be careful.

crsitina best of luck for a great score. can u list some topics which would be good for revision in the last few days. thanks a lot.

  #23

Olivo, I am taking cs in 2 weeks. Working on that full time.

Rezaaa, like I said in the first post, memorize the screenings (preventive medicine) and the appropiate ages to start tests

About diabetes, got 2 questions regarding metformin.

I think you should spend the last week reenforcing internal medicine, because is the overwhelming majority in every block.

I wish you good luck, and keep yourself calm, you are prepared and you can do well in this test.
