Dear friends

I need you advice please.

I'm a FMG graduated on 2003, Green Card holder,ECFMG certified.step1 96 step2 99. my problem is that I'm scared of the residency, hearing stories about the too many hours we will have to work and the calls,I have a feeling that I can't handle that,.also I don't wanna deal with patients.that made me think of radiology but I was told that Radio is immpossible for me since I don't have any USCE ,I haven't done any observership nor research.actually I haven't done anything since I finished medical school.

now I'm thinking of going to either medical school to become a US medical grad so I can go to radio. or to join pharmacy school.but I have few question:

If I go to med school will I have to start from zero? will I have to retake the USMLE exams again?

If I go to pharmacy school how many years will I have to study?

your advise is greatly appreciated.thank you in advance

Do you really wanna go through med school again?
you have excellent scores...
Your letting your fears get the best of you...
Why don't you try to get some USCE... try the hospitals where you live... if not, try a busy radiology office... or any other busy med office...
Once you get your hands dirty you will remember why you got into medicine...

Completely agrre with cocacola- I guess you are having a panic attack/ brief psychotic attack and not thinking straight!-Come on you have completed medical school and seen patients, you got a 99 in CK- of course in real life things are more difficult, but not impossible- Almost everybody feels a bit nervous when they start but you get used to it- Look at it this way, people who know much less medicine than you are out there practicing and you can probably do better than them!
Also, going back to medical schoool wont solve anything- there's only one way to get over your fears - by confronting them!
But if you are sure you dont want anything to do with patients, maybe Pathology is an option- it might not be easy to get but is easier I guess than radiology

your post encouraged me a lot.I will try my best to get into radiology,I will also think about patho as a second choice.
it's nice to have supportive people like you.good luck to both of you.
Good luck to both of you.

You could also go into residencies like medical microbiology, pathology or even palliative medicine if you don't want to deal much with patients..(which kinda makes me wonder why ur in this profession)..no offense)

you should control your nerves, you are worried, try to seek some medical advice, don't think of going back to school, with such a good credentials ,try to get observership in radiology, try to put your efforts this way, it will channelize you to radiology as well and and you will gain some experience too, you are hardworking as your credentials shows, I am sure you will do it, don't be scared of patients, patients are something that make you stand out among others, cheer up.
