what are the options in which we can give time to home and family while doing residency
worried as My son will go this year to kindergarden and my twins will go next year
any kind soul???

Pick a residency your passionate about, yet will allow you sufficent time to spend with your family....family medicine/pathology/psychiatry all have reasonable hours...keep in mind however that the PGY1 year will be tough no matter what you choose, as it's pretty much rotatory and comprehensive...the other thing you could do is try to schedule your calls and vacations so u can maximze off time with them...you could also pick easy electives and selectives...example my geriatrics and endocrinology electives are relatively light..allowing me to spend extra time on things like research..find out from ur seniors wat electives to choose....good luck smiling face

If you are good at communicating then nothing but psychiatry .If you can summarize things well and write very cohesively cogent reports then you are a king .

i am making a switch from psychiatry to internal medicine but I am certain that the comforts of psychiatry will be greatly missed .
