35 y female who engages in aerobic exercises without difficulty,On routine physical exam she was found to have a systolic murmur in2nd lt intercostal space 2/6 , S1 is normal , S2 wide& fixed split . Which of the following is true about her condition: A-It will have no consequences if left untreated. B-It was developed during childhood. C-It maybe associated with bony abnormalities in limbs. D-It may lead to Vent. arrythmia. E-Increased risk for infective endocarditis.

ASD has no risk for endocarditid, thats why we don'y give prophylaxis

yes its ASD and yes i was thinking on the basis of Pathology of it as i havent studied for Step 2 and yes the answer shud be A

the only right choice is C-It maybe associated with bony abnormalities in limbs,like holt -oram syndrome. all others are distractors .

Holt-Oram syndrome. also called heart-hand syndrome wich is autosomal dominant. Upper limb abnormalities present with ASD and Thumb abnormalities are most frequent manifestation. ... very interesting syndrome, I didn't hear about that~ Thanks.

For ASD u shud treat it surgically which is not the case in VSD, and there is usually no endocarditis prophylaxis but for primum type ASD. I think it can b C
