Aspirin inhibits

a) cox-1
b) cox-2
c) 5 lipoxygenase
d) 3 lipoxygenase.

what is the source....did this Q come somewhere???

IE why they got new selective cox 2[rofecoxib,celecoxib] thinking they wont hav increase acidity as sideeffect, and if u hav heard news about all the these drugs getting a black box warning telling you long term they might get cardiotoxicity.

hey i think its cox 1,rememberd dr goljan saying asprin inhibits cox1 not cox 2..

aspirin is NON SELECTIVE.....

i dont know if any new theory has come but before that aspirin was non selective.....

it relieves pain....and erosive action in GIT, inhibition of PGs....
antiplatelet action.....
all cannot be cox 1 or cox 2
it has to be both.....

aspirin causes an irreversible inhibition of COX. Covalent bond via acetylation of a serien hydroxyl group near the active site. both COX 1 and COX 2.
