SALMETEROL........ will decrease airway resistance....also decrease narrowing of bronchus, will not decrease sputum production. ZAFIRLUKAST........will have and anti inflamatory effect......will not decrease sputum production IPRATOPIUM..........antichonergic..........acts on bronchial glands that are responsible for excessive sputum production... none except....IPRATOP....acts on glands......

Zafirlukast! Bronchodilator Effect of Zafirlukast in Subjects With Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease Nannini LJ, Flores DM Pulm Pharmacol Ther. 2003;16:307-311 Cysteinyl leukotrienes (LT) are involved in airway inflammation and mucus hypersecretion, characteristically present in asthma and COPD. Zafirlukast is an LT receptor antagonist that improves airway function within 1 to 3 hours after oral administration in subjects with chronic persistent asthma...In conclusion, these findings suggest that zafirlukast has a bronchodilator or antibronchoconstrictor effect in COPD patients with severe airflow limitation.
