I've found 3 different drugs from different sources: Mefloquine, Atovaquone, Proguanil.



Any thoughts on which is DOC for Malaria prophylaxis for the Step 2?

Mefloquine for malaria resistant zones like India ( Choroquine is for non resistant zone )

Prevention of malaria in nonimmune adult travelers
REGIONS WITH CHLOROQUINE-SENSITIVE P falciparum MALARIA: Central America west of the Panama Canal, the Caribbean, Mexico, and parts of the Middle East and China: Chloroquine.
REGIONS WITH CHLOROQUINE-RESISTANT P falciparum malaria: All other regions of the world: Malarone (atovaquone combined with proguanil [preferred method]) or Mefloquine (alternative method) or Doxycycline (alternative method).
