ive asked this Q but have got diff answers....
i took my step1 on feb2007

i tried my best during my internship preparing for step1 but couldnt pass it....

i had no idea abt the exam standards n later found my preparation was simply not enuff.there was no guidence n i was also cutoff from my friend circle....so had no idea of the preparation standards of my friends....

well watz gone is gone....

i want a sincere piece of advice even if it may not pleasant to hear ..... im prepared for the worst.....

the Q is ...DO I STILL STAND A CHANCE FOR RESIDENCY MATCH IF I RETAKE N TRY N PASS THE STEPS???

Yes... people have matched with multiple attempts...
Retake your Step 1 - you know what went wrong so fixing the problem won't be hard... study well... take the exam after NBME indicates a good score (a score over 90 will help "excuse" your failure)
Study and score well on the other steps!
Research and apply wisely, widely, and early come Application season!
The question of your step 1 failure will surely come up on interview day - be prepared to have good explanations...

Use this forum - it has so much info -
read the threads of the steps you are preparing and you will find what resources to use and how to use them... besides it helps to know people are going through the same struggles you are...

anyone can fail. if i see someone who failed but later got a 99, i'll value more the 99 than the failed one
