While Dental Content will occur when there is a tooth extraction. u shud be more thinking in the context of the location of the Abcess which can be asked.

well the Q was:
homeless alcholic in ER...fever night sweats green foul smelling productive cough...cavity in middle lob of R lung...and they gave both options in the answers ...both gastric and oropharyngeal ... and the correct answer was oropharyngeal...bc gastric causes chemical pneumonitis said the explanation ...
as to the location...all I know is ..
if the patient aspirates it when upright it goes to lower lob sup segment
supine it goes to upper lob post segment
of the R lung ...
and this doesnt help much when both options are in the answers

hey, its the clinical scenario tht will determine the cause,
- patient undergoing endoscopic procedure, under sedation, can aspirate gastric contents, likewise patient undergoing surgery, having esophageal diverticula etc.
- patients having poor dental hygiene with predisposition to aspiration like alcoholism, stroke patients, elderly, dementia, they are likely to have oropharyngeal flora..
concentrate on the vignette and then decide, don't play mathematics with it, relax and enjoy ur preparation
