Just got my results, very happy about an unexpected 99/237. Also got the "temporary certificate".

Five-week study plan, "old" (6 years) IMG, used only FA, UW and Goljan (audio primarily). Bottom line: quality is as important as amount of time; work hard, concentrate and focus on your objectives.

Following suggestion of some leaders/moderators, I'll scan my report when I get home.

Congrats man !!!!!

Please shed some more light on your prep. It sounds very tempting to do just FA, UW and Glojan and get a 99 winkgrin . Everyone uses these but everyone does not get 99. There must be some secret behind this. Please disclose that secret sticking out tongue. Were you a top student in your class ? Did you study 24/7 these 5 weeks ? How many times did you read your material ? Any other tips ?

Wish you best of luck with your next steps .

Thanks unique.

I'll try to list some relevant and honest points as requested:

- I went to a very good university in Brazil, with solid basic education; graduated in 2001.
- I was above the average, but not that much.
- I studied hard during these 5 weeks, averaging 10 hours/day; this should be tailored to each one's preference, even if I had studied more hours/day, I'd not have learnt anything else
- I read FA 2 times; used 70% of UW, averaged 75% in tutor mode (as I cheated sometimes in the tutor mode, I guess it would be wiser to say my average was around 70%)
- I don't think a lot of books/sources is a good idea; makes hard to maintain the focus to the extremely high-yield facts. I know it sound impossible, but most questions are covered in FA. I've read a lot of people recently complaining in their post following the exam: "I wish I had read FA more times, or more seriously".
- I used the same approach for 2CK, with similar results (241/97)
- Giving Step 2 first had 2 sides: 1 bad was that I missed some questions covered in Step 1; 1 good was that I got more experience for Step 1 (which for old graduates is more scaring)
- And, of course, this forum helped me a lot; especially reading other people's experience during the exam

And that's pretty much of it, no tricks, as you can see.

Just focus and hard work.

Thanks again for all your support.

See you later with my score sheet. grin

Thank you very much dncosta for your prompt reply. Yes I remember many people stressing the importance of studying high yield material very well.

Your UW score was very impressive. It reflects your strong grasp on the hard core concepts. With these great scores on both your steps , you will get the residency of your dreams smiling facenod. Wish you all the best with everything in life.

Dncosta, Firstly congrats on great scores .I have been following ur posts for quite a long time and have been motivated to find a great winner and a humble guy.I'm in a similar way in terms of IMG status and having completed radiology from home country, have plans to do a research radiology fellowship during my ongoing MLE prep. If u could help with with my queries ( would be grateful )are --were u able to manage studying for MLE beside working as a research scholar, how tough is the work in general ?.How many years course is it ?And how did u go about applying, is it personal appt with the program director/HOD or email request or which means. Are you placed in Massgen ? plz help out this guy. I would be grateful becoz I feel its a waste of knowledge and being not in touch with my field during MLE prep.

Thanks a lot for all your kind words and best wishes sent back to all of you.

mytime: I didn't use Kaplan, and only did 70% of UW

kochs: check your instant messages

I forgot to mention: I didn't to any nbme because I could not postpone my exams, theoretically I had to have all my results by June 30 (that's why I gave all 3 exams in 5 months) grin
