Also called the ANDROGEN INSENSITIVITY /RESISTANCE SYNDROME. Its a familial form of pseudohermophroditism, here the patients have a karyotype of XY, with end organ resistance to androgen due to mutation in the "androgen receptor gene". its an X-LINKED RECESSIVE TRAIT. s/s: SEXUAL AMBIGUITY IN MALES, the affected male have ABDOMINAL OR INGUINAL TESTIS, FEMALE EXTERNAL GENITALIA AND BREAST, BLIND VAGINAS, ABSENT UTERUS, some have absent pubic and axillary hair. thus the patient has a FEMALE PHENOTYPE AND A MALE GENOTYPE

Here the finding of the actual genotype of the patient is accidental when being investigated for delayed onset of menarchi in a female child . most surgeons perform orchidectomy...for the danger of malignant transformation in the ectopic testis and the patient is advised hormone replacement therapy with estrogens....so that he will remain a female for the rest of his[her] life. :|
