Hi everyone. I have my CK booked 30th of june. I have about 35% of UW left and i want to repeat all of the UW before the exam, atleast the most of it. Doing pediatrics now, not getting very good scores on it. I still have Obs/gyn left. I want to take NBME to assess where I stand. I want to request every one who have finished the test, to give their average score in UW and then their CK score, to get an idea of the correlation. I am around 60% in UW. Is this good enough? I bought NBME test 1, but in a self paced mode, will it still give me a correlation and will it be accurate. I am worried that taking the NMBE will decrease my confidence and I will lose my motivation. I have only a month left, I dont want to screw my confidence up with NBME. Thanx all for your advise.

Hi. Try searching. There's actually a thread for what you're asking for. Seen it before. Good luck. And if I remember correctly, 60% in UW would correspond to an above 90 score in the real thing.

Hi alosh, Just finished Step2 today- Qbank is useful but the real exam also requires you to think for almost every question- (except for a very few- could be expt qs?)- What I found most useful from UW was the fact that you had to think and look for the little clues that give you the answer- UW (and the Kaplan notes) cover all the High yield subjects - for eg there will be Qs on HTN, MIs ,DM, Trauma, etc but the difficulty varies- some are clear cut- still not 'easy' if you havent covered it in your prep- this is where UW and the notes help the most but for some other questions you just have to improvise and think on your feet- you will have 1 minute and you do what you can- UW is good practice for time - but the exam I found was a bit tougher with time- I used to finish with 5 mins or more in the UW Qbank but the real exam I just managed to finish withing a 2-3 mins- Maybe becuase of the exam pressure- but also practice doing Qs for 8 hours in a day- I was beginning to 'fade out ' towards the end Reviewing UW is not easy- I was stuck withthe same probs as you a month ago but then I could only do UW in the evenings and I decided that it roughly takes1hr for 1% of questions- to answer and review(for eg 23 qs and 23 Ans in 1 hr)- you will need at least 3-4 days if you did Qs full time (9-11hrs a day)- but I found that when I did more than 200 Qs in a day and reviewed them (8 hrs) I was drained - esp if I had never seen those Qs- it gets easier in last aprt as the Qs and concepts are repeatd in UW

UW scores- got around 60-65% at the beginning and ended close to 75% on the last 5 or so blocks of 46 qs but this I realised because also iin UW the same concepts are repeated and and thge last blocks were also easier- (the average scores for those blocks were close to 62- 65%) And the final average was 65% and I messed one block completely when I pressed quit instaed of suspend when somebody interrupted me and I got 8%!! The scores dont mean much except make sure that you understand the concepts and dont mess up the same qs when you revise- It impossible to get 100% right but you should get the main concepts- nobody cares much about the stupid Qs which only 10% of students got right- the ones on some zebras like polyglandular syndrome 2 or whatever Try to summarise the concept in a couple of lines sothat you end up with something like Goljyn 100pg HY notes for Step1- this will be very useful on the last week for revision

Although I havent taken the exam, I completely agre with Hypomanic! It is not how much you score, but how you utilize it, which makes the difference. As for you query about score correlation, have a look at the exam score thread...where most members have posted their practice and final scores.
