I am also from Brazil, FMUSP, graduated 2001, residency in Radiology, came for Boston last year for a research fellowship.
I was invited and will begin a clinical fellowship next month, had to give all Steps in 4-5 months, hard time, but possible (not only to pass, but also to get fairly good scores).

I am from Brazil, Salvador - Bahia. Graduated long time ago, master degree, residency, publications in the past (all in Brazil).Working as doc in Brazil since graduation. In the US since 2002, after remarried (an American). Already passed Step 1, 2, CS (all in 2007). Entered the 2008 match late (around Christmas), no good results yet. Preparing for the scramble/2008 and, if unlucky, to 2009 EARLY (September, 1st) ERAS season. Good luck to you all (me included).

Hi, katiaf! If you participate on orkut, there's a nice Brazilian USMLE community there, look us up!

Good luck on scramble, what specialty are you trying?

Hello, Arlete,

No, I do not participate in the Orkut "community". I am trying Family Practice only. Thanks for asking. Are u in the 2008 match? I wish you good luck.

  #19

I am not ECFMG certified yet. I am going for CS next Friday. I'll try 2009 (IM), but my chances are very slim. I graduated in 1992.

Thank you, keep in touch!

Good luck on CS. Pratice writing notes, I think that is almost everybody's vulnerable point. I am old grad too and my chances are also slim, but I'll try the scramble 2008 and 2009 match (early September) and it will be it, if I don't get a position I'll go only for research (I do enjoy research too).cool

  #21

I'll try only 2009, only the city I live in, imagine that! If nothing comes from it, I'll go back to college (nursing or physician assistant). I'll feel a little wasted, but goods things can come out of it, such as having more family time while the kids are young. I'll find a way to be happy, for sure. But it's too soon to talk defeat. (Read my signature).

I am praying for you, dear compatriota! nod

Arlete,

I'll pray for you too. And I like your attitude, this is not the end of the world, being happy is what matters most.
