I think B too. Classically meniscal tear results from rotation on a fixed axis (ie the leg), like when you're playing soccer.

it occurs in forcefully extended knee when a shot is tried by the football striker. so i will go for a. any correction highly appreciated.

am correcting myself. mechanism of injury is flexion and rotation: commonly when our feet falls into a shallow ditch and medial fremoral condyle presses against the medial meniscus. its when u extend--the knee is locked as the piece of teared meniscus comes in between tibial and femoral condyle and its painful.
