My exam was on May first. Well, I had no idea how I performed in the exam until I got my score on May 29th. I was expecting the worst, moaning and groaning all the time, i thought it would be some where in the eighties. The exam is NOT easy, infact I may be one among the few who found it tougher than step 1..the questions were kinda vague, u can never be sure of the right answer (but u can be in step 1). So what i feel is u cannot predict how u did on this exam, no matter how terrible u feel.
For step 2 preparation, I used Kaplan notes and USMLEWORLD.
I had taken step 1 in January 29th(258/99), so I was pretty fresh with that stuff.
I started serious prep after my cs exam in march end. One month is more than enough if u had cared to learn sth while u where in the medschool Kaplan q book is a waste, the questions are far more tougher in the real exam. I don't know about the kaplan q bank. But the kaplan notes are really good.
UW is good for the prep, i took most of the questions in tutor untimed mode, except for about 150 questions or so. this is NOT advisable, try to do as many in the timed mode, it'll definitely help you to face the stress of the exams..
I didn't do the NBME series( that exam we need to pay for)
I did the questions from the USMLE cd..the questions in the real exam are NOT that easy, so don't be fooled. i scored 43/42/44 or sth like that on that.

i didn't listen to kaplan lecture cds, they seem to take a real lot of time, so if u r short of time, reading the lecture notes would do.
my usmle world cumulative score was 75% in the end..

congrats on a great score , can u please describe ur test in a little more detail as in what kinda questions u got and what was the subject split and WHERE THERE ANY HARD HIT AREAS . i hope a lot of people would really benifit by this ...... thanx

Congrats deeps, great going. two-99s with awesome 3-digit scores.....you will walk into the residency of your choice.
Just one query, when you say that UW is a good prep source and Kaplan notes are also awesome...do they complement each other..I mean what is lacking in 1 is made up by the other? Or both of them emphasize the same point, so that reading Kaplan reinforces the same UW points? Also, speaking as a whole did you have questions which you felt you couldnt have answered, if you hadnt done the Kapaln notes thoroughly and depended solely on UW?

congratulations deeps99! Do you think kaplan IM is enough for the exam? CMDT and cecil essentials seem to be too detailed and time-consuming. What do you think about step up to medicine?

I didn't read them! haven't ever read them either..use kaplan notes just as the base..u'll build up more while doing usmleworld. the questins in uw 'll help u to concentrate on the important concepts tested. Once you do the Usmleworld, the things that we read casually thru kaplan notes make some sense..

Fantastic score - and Great timing too- I guess must be the best score for someone preparing for only a month!!!  Guess it shows that if your basics are strong, its definitely possible to prepare for step2 in 2-3 months

Thank you..To doc _08, I read mainly Internal medicine in the last few days.. Also I went thru the questions I got wrong in UW. Couldn't complete doing the questions I had marked in UW though...I did make some notes while going thru UW.. read that on the exam eve..Jus rushed thru all the surgery and IMnotes too..I did the USMLE cd two days prior to the exam..
