actually am at the stage of collecting materials... already have kaplan lecture notes , goljan notes & audio , fa07 . hy anat, neuro ,behav sc...
planning to take step 1 in 6 months .. n not actually started with my prep..
i`ve browsed thru ze forum.... some say the live lectures are necessary only for mol bio n behavir sc..
so was wondering if its worth buying the kaplan dvd set?

i would say,extremely important.when u are done with the dvds,half of your score is already in the bag.i did dvds for every subject except microbio.

kaplan dvds are essential to understanding their lecture notes, which are not comprehensive. also, most of the teaching staff are quite good, they will save you time in breaking your head in trying to get written text in to your head. for beh sc i would say dvds are enough-the teacher is excellent.
also, don't go overboard trying to collect material for preparing. don't forget, you ultimately have to go through the stuff. so don't allow a case of 'too many books spoil the...score?!

yoga ... i found the neuroscience DVDs useful but physio, you have to be sooo patient with him .

is the 2007 version really imp to go thru or is 2004 good enough...multifactorial, is this site reliable...i mean i hope i dont lose any money over this...i am assuming this is where you bought your material from too. i and many others will greatly appreciate it if yu let us know about this.

Which yr to get is all up to the person, but it is good to get latest , still the only barrier is the price. Even latest one price is up & up in 1 to 2 month.
Friends attending the course said, 2007 , changes alot of teachers, all books, most are thicker , some like old better , some like new better .
So all up to individual .

rock:i borrowed the dvds from a great friend of mine when i was back home in pakistan and i used the 2004 edition.i took my exam in 2007 and i didnt come across anything in the exam or in the new material which would signify the need for new dvds(2007 edition).i would say that the 2004 ones are as good as the latest dvds out there so buy the 2004 edition if it is cheaper.

thanks a lot multifactorial...i greatly appreciate it. i am already going through the 2004 version of the dvd's...right now, reading biochem...this guy is really good...i never felt so good about reading biochem before
i am going thru a lot of concepts i never read during my UG years...so its good to be learning a lot of things new and lot of thing i had forgotten
thanks shwehope, yes yu are right that it depends on the person but just wanted to make sure if 2007 has a lot of new things or not.

neuro same Dr White but has alot more to writes than LN , Not know about other anatomy comments, seems all old teacher of 2001 or 02 or 04 overlap in , does not means same or more in lectures but book is thicker ,
physio new teacher & has alot more Qs & graph with few new concepts, book is much thicker obviously with more Qs ,
micro is by immuno lady teacher Kim with slides , immu is newrer than 2001 or 02 in book for sure & new concepts by her , I am not her fan , others like her,
seems patho same Dr Barone with more than books with clinical explain like Dr. Golj ,
pharm same Dr Raymond with new books , new med , he teaches alot more than books as he did in biochem.
biochem, sad, not Dr Raymond any more, but some like it, said more fun, like physio new teacher more fun, I am fan of both old teachers, but not see new one yet, genetics may be abit more about pcr tests etc, not sure,
Behav, not sure all Dr. D. , but abit more in book & may be 2 teachers , Dr D & other one.
After all 2004 is 2nd latest, so , what can you say , not bad .

With that 2007 price, I rather go to center prep if 30 days 1100$ in 3 month
, after reading 2004 one.

Dont you think thats too much money (like abusing!) 1899$ !!!
Many 99ers didnt go through all of that. So, is it really worth it? God bless DVD RW, they saved us big bucks!

p 4 99 , real life 99 I met all worship & camp at kap center or live or both , but it's just my experinces , not that represent all 99 er .
In here cyber , do not know , but know some here who also I had lucky to met real life also in kap , alot might not mention or just do not go , but still same if use same all materials .
Also like some of us need to be baby sit [ in ways of motivated by kap environment ] by kap at one point or may be all time.
Sit home with all materials without study for 6 mo or yrs is not better than costly kap study well in few months.
You cannot buy time or lost time & age with money or by any .....but you can earn money as far as you can work .

I got your point Shwe. To some time ago, i took the Kaplan center out of my choices and tried to get over it but now i got a little confused. I think this is what ill do: try on my own in the beginning if it ddnt work or lost too much time maybe ill think of it seriously. THANX

shwehope, thanks for such a detailed insight into the new 2007 lectures...i greatly appreciate it...
i am yet to do my path,physio,pharm,anatomy(did micro and did not like it at all, but immuno was good,rest all subjects were good too) and i will be taking my exam sometime in end of september so i was wondering if i should go for it.
but then as yu said, 2004 is the 2nd latest and should not be bad...i mean how many changes will they make for step 1...its not like step 2 where there are more chances of newer things being included every year...but maybe they teach things a little differently and maybe thats how questions will be framed so it will be easier to go thru the exam...i dont know...just a little confused if i should go for it or not.
but is this site reliable...how can we check that?any idea about that. i am really grateful for all the help that yu have already given...thanks again and good luck to you.

rock, the LN, video, dvd did change alot from 2001 to every yr in 2006 change 2 times, 2004 big change then 2005, 06 07 too.
2004 dvd is 2nd latest out but have change after that too, obviously is pharmaco, & immu is lady that not in 2004 I think , but not sure notes, notes 2nd latest is somewhere in forum.
You've 4 mo till end of sept , see your pm .for all detail advice again for you as specific.

Guys, are you saying that one really needs the DVD to study? The lecture notes are not enough? Where from can I get the DVDs? I mean only the DVDs, because I already have some books. Thank you!
