Bipolar disorder can present with psychotic features during the manic episodes

its not bipolar disorder because

bipolar disorder should have one manic episode of atleast one week if at home or 4 days if hospitalized n a MDE acc to DSM 4.

its nt even a hypomanic episode coz even that needs atleast 4 days of symptms according to DSM 4.

may be the answer is e but im not sure.

doc-o8: by your time logic it cant be schizo either cuz that requires more than 6 months of s/s for diagnosis

this one is indeed confusing

  #10

mania with psychosis seems to be the most probable (and so bipolar) : thats my opinion

  #11

yes it is mania with psychosis

check out these :

http://bipolar.about.com/cs/menu_treat/a/0312_tre...

"Although psychotic symptoms often occur in the manic phase of bipolar disorder, psychotic mania has been and continues to be frequently misdiagnosed as schizophrenia or other psychotic illnesses"

for rezaaa

thas y i said it cant be schizophrenia. to me it looks like a substance induced disorder. coz all others have time lines for teh diagnosis n this patient doesnt fall into any of those.

  #13

It is quite confused question can any one can give the right option?

  #14

I thought first time it could be substance induced disorder due to acute episode of mania, but she already had been treated due her depression 10 yrs ago, and it fits more Bipolar I disorder.
I'll go with A.
