poliovirus can be grown in cultured monkey cells through repeated passages, resulting in virus that is no longer neurovirulent. this virus can be used as a vaccine because it has become a) attenuated b) defective c) inactivated d) latent e) recombinant what's the answer??? is it a, b, or c???

inactivated are viruses that have been killed by heat. polio has a vaccine where one is attenuated and one is inactivated(killed). In the experiment the virus was not heat killed so it can only be attenuated, basically with enough mutations some of the vital genes become inactive "attenuated"

there are two type of polio vaccines SALK AND SABIN... one is attenuated which is made through this way...n the other is inactivated which is made by killin the virus infective RNA.... polio is an example of infectious RNA virus...which uses host cell polymerase to generate its RNA... anyway...the point is ....this type of attenuation is done in mice
