YES! It is important to do because a subperichondral hematoma in the pinna may lead to avascular necrosis of the cartilage with shriveling of the pinna + fibrosis and calcification of heamtoma and thus lead to a permanent deformity known as "cauliflower ear", typically seen in fighters and wrestlers Needle aspiration doesn't effect adequate drainage
