stenosis distal to carotid sinus....fall in BP. stenosis proximal......................rise in BP, so.....if above means distal....it shud be rise in TPR.... though not sure... whats the answer???

proximal to carotid sinus (close to heart) --> less blood to sinus ---> response and high bp distal to carotid sinus ---> meets resistance distally ---> increased TPR -----> decreased BP ? correct me

I aint sure of it .. BUt since the Question mentions .. that STENOSIS JUST ABLVE THE BIFURCATION .. then there would be INCREASED pressure below it .. that is in the Carotid A which willl contain the Carotid body .. and thus .. Bradycardia .. !! BUt aint sure .. need more brainz for this .. !

the carotid sinus is a localized dilation of the internal carotid artery at its origin, the common carotid artery ! So i guess they test your knowledge on this aspect.... your logic is great----> incr press in carot sinus---> clinically similar effects with a carotis massage---->pt is slightly hTN & slower HR . You ll do great this week !

i kinda thought the same way as drduck and inkspot... i thought it would be rise in TPR...but i am not sure either...just posting a link here that i found. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carotid_body

look here is the problem If u r talking abt the Carotid stenosis abv the bifurcation Means u r having inc presures below the stenosis thus Vaso dilation will occur there be a drop in both BP N HR cos the idea of the baroreceptors is to DEC THE Cardiac Output Correct me if i m wrong

Rock wht u r talking abt is different the Carotid Bodies and Carotid Sinus r different as one has Chemoreceptors and other has Baroreceptors. the Anatomical postition is also different
