Is beta lactamase and penicillinase same?
Then why Dicloxacillin is not used in place of Augmentin?

Not sure.....anyone done pharmacology who knows this??

beta lactamase and penicillinase are the same thing
and the second is a very good question.
as far as i remember augmentin is not used when you know the infection is caused by beta lactamase producing bacteria. its used more as an empiric treatment that is broad spectrum. once you have lab results(antibiotic sensitivity) you use the antibiotic indicated that in case of beta lactamase producin bacteria might be dicloxacillin
