NBME or UW? if u wanna get an idea about where u stand in the beginning of the studies,which one should u take, NBME form 1 or UW?

There different views about this here in the forum. In my opinion it's better to start with UW and then when you score consistently in high 60s or better do NBME to see if you are ready for exam. I think so because even though UW is much harder than NBME it's really good to train you how to think when you have an exam-like q. Your score is going to increase after donig some UW mostly because of this, you are going also to study with a different view. Doing NBME first and then UW and then againg NBME could be a good approach but still I would rely more on UW. I did my exam 2 weeks ago so I don't know results yet but I can tell you that 2 blocks of mine were like a hard block on UW. I was trained to it so even though I am sure i did poorly in those blocks I didn't panic and could do better in the following. If you check your preparation with let's say 4 50qs blocks on UW and get > 70% you are ready for the exam; while if you have a good score on NBME you still have to hope that your blocks are not gonna be of the "tough kind"
