hi everybody, I need some serious help.I registered for my step 1 and then extended the eligibility period, now i have to take my exam within one month and i'm just not prepared ,i truly think that i need atleast two more months to prepare,I live in a Maryland where you can take 3 attempts for a step to pass or you won't get a license,I've already used 1 attempt and failed step 1,i don't wanna fail it again. I'm thinking of not taking the exam next month and let my money go to waste and then reapply and take exam in the next 3 months when i'm fully prepared. please give me advice about what should i do? i'm desperate!

i have gone through the same situation. i took nbme and got 320 i knew if i took the exam i failed it again so i didn't take the exam. my exam fee wasted coz i can't extend the exam any more but i again put myself together made a proper study plan and just sticked to it for six months. i took nbme form 3 ten days before exam and got 470 this time and finally took the exam. now i'm waiting for my result. i think u shd take the exam when u feel that u r ready , money doesn't matter as attempts count more. thats my experince . u shd take nbme to see where u stand and how much more time u need. good luck

It will not show anything in your USMLE transcripts report if you do not take the exam.
