If a Pt comes to you and says I have bloody diarrhea for 2 days
do we go straight to culture then give empritic Ab's or do we need to check for fecal leukocytes 1st then culture then empiric Ab;s(if Fever + Blood)
I mean is bloody diarrhea enough for us to assume it is an Invasive Organism ??
When do we just give Fluid and electrolytes??

the patient says bloody diarrhea but u have to document it so u check the stool for fecal leukocytes and then send it for culture and start him on antibiotics....for fever bloody diarrhea
fluids for viral causes and when nausea vomiting predominent which mostly toxin mediated staph and bacilus cerus and clostridium perfringins
