For CS workup,First aid cs puts rectal exam and pelvic exam in two lines as
two different lists but it does put pelvic exam and breast exam as one group.
Can we also put these rectal exam and pelvic exam together as one group so
we can save one list for another test since the maximum list is five tests?
thanks

I would say:
1. Rectal exam and stool for occult blood
2. Pelvic exam and pap smear (or Pelvic exam and vaginal swab)
3. Breast exam

instead of pelvic, you could say GU or genitourinary exam as well... Agree?

Hello, DrVirgo, thank you for the replying.

can I put them like this:
1. Rectal exam, stool for occult blood, stool for C.difficle toxin, fecal leukocyte

2. Pelvic exam and pap smear

3.CBC

4.Anoscopy, Colonoscopy, Flexible proctosiggmoidoscopy (Q: Can I put these three exams together? As I see, First aid list them separately that will cost me 3/5 lists.)

5.Double-contrust barium enema

but, I don't have room for listing Ct-abdomen/pelvis. any suggestion?

I would put them like this:

1. Rectal exam, stool for occult blood,
2. stool for C.difficle toxin, fecal leukocyte
3. Pelvic exam and pap smear
3.CBC with differential

4. ---> for this one choose ONE Exam...
for example Anoscopy only if you think it's hemorrhoids, or flex sig if you suspetct a rectal pathology or Colonoscopy if you think its colon cancer... That should be enough... Putting ALL is overkill I think...

5.Double-contrust barium enema

Up to 5 are enough. For the 5th one you can put CT OR barium enema.

These work up tests really depend on what you put in your DD section.

You don't need everything all the time... What was the DD for this case?

The important thing is that you match the WU with the DD.

For example if you said Colon cancer in the DD then you should say colonoscopy in the WU. If you said some type of STD in the DD then you would have to say Pelvic exam in the WU.

hey I was thinking about putting PE things wich are not allowed in exam to the same category if needed in the case like

rectal exam, genital exam in same line & always 1st in WU

is that ok??

anyways In FA sometimes they keep UA& UC in same place and in some at another place.. what I am thinking is if needed WU

1. PE tests not allowed in CSA
2. Blood tests in same line
3. serum tests in same line
4. stool tests in same line

can we follow this?? is there some order of writing WU like least complex to more complex tests??

or should we follow like in DD tests more imp leading to most imp D's
then to exclude others in dd list???confusedconfused

I write my WU according to the DD list. Most likely diagnosis ---> least likely diagnosis.

Example:

DD:
1. MI
2. GERD
3. Angina
4. Pneumothorax
5. PE

WU:
1. EKG
2. CK-MB and Troponin
3. Upper endoscopy
4. CXR
5. V/Q scan or Spiral CT

1 and 2 to R/O MI.
3 for GERD
4 for Pneumonia
5 for PE
