It's good to get all book with dvd same time. That get save time , big picture and will read both books for sure. Still if can not , can also get to 2nd book after dvd with kap book after each topics, or chapter . GL happy success study to us

Thanks ShewHope99.9998.. but i'm demoralised. i study best in the morning and 6-9 is taken up by dependents and i get depressed by then. know i shouldn't. family commitment was meant to be one day but was extended to three days. well, good luck to me really.. thanks for the advice.. i've been skimming stuff and not retaining anything.. which is not good.. need to start learning. haven't done gross anat. started it and thought embryo would help first so doing HY embryo coz kaplan goes into the embryologic origin of everything and i find it annoying to split subjects up. guess i'll try to hit the books today. i don't know how to get rid of my external distractions and when i'm rid of them, the internal ones!!!

did ch 3. i've had tremendous distractions but its all good now. i can finally study in peace. i wish it was going in full swing!! but hopefully soon - i get soooo tired after doing so little. anyway, so i'm on ch 4 right now. i know i should leave it since its low-yield but i have this bad habit that i can't move onto something else until i've completed what i've started. hopefully, i'll pick up pace now that i have more time (not that i'm not superslow!!!) thatks everyone for your input!

Hi nochoice, Gogeta gives good advice. Some frequently tested concepts I have read from others' experiences: 1. know the pouches, arches 2. know the defects, eg heart, craniofacial, neurological, genitourinary 3. know heart, brain, limb development/defects 4. know the markers for fetal anomalies, eg AFP, hCG, etc. 5. know what happens during sexual differentiation I am like you when it comes to moving on before getting the big picture. It's hard but keep trying to see the bigger picture. Hope this helps

thanks edie - yeah it does. its hard to get into the study mode as well. i'm managing around 2-3 hours a day when i'm actually sitting down for around 6-8 hours. thanks for the pointers - i'll keep them in mind. i think gogeta is right too but i just can't leave the subject which leaves me with no other choice but to move faster. i'm done with ch 4. its so short but it takes sooo long to memorise. anyway, good luck edie. thanks - i appreciate the advice.

Hi nochoice... I am also like you.. I sit with the books for more hours than those that are productive reading...BUT... it will ALL BE WORTH IT,.. I promise!!! You are doing GREAT!!! I have half the distractions, but still I don't study.... so you are doing very well my friend! I used to be a perfectionist thinking I need to know a lot before I leave the subject but from what I have read on this forum... more number of repeated readings is better than one detailed reading.... so good luck!!! KEEP STRIVING!!! It doesn't matter whether it is 2-3 QUALITY hrs rather than 10 hrs of BAD QUALITY!!!!

thanks acintya!! i really do appreciate your words! i am hoping i pick up some speed because i'll never get done otherwise. and lots of people i know have taken the exam ages ago. which is demoralising but on the upside, i have all this time and i'm so fortunate. i saw so many poor people on the street today - it made me realise what we are going through all this for - not just for ourselves adn getting a high score but to help people too. it ws a humbling feeling. and i felt so fortunate to just be sitting for an exam and not having to worry about where my next meal is going to come from. anyway, that's just a sidetrack. took two days off... even tho i had done very little - was really tired and couldn't learn any more (yeah! i'm slow! ) but i'm hoping i'll be steady and the studying will pick up pace. good luck to us all!!

i'll try to go faster.. more readings definitely will help so i'm going to try to balance both things because i know being a perfectionist is a major weakness in me.

OKAY so i'm back! after leaving the prep for quite a while. haha.. i was supposed to get done this october. anyway, so I am on Behavioural Sciences. I left embryo since I heard Anatomy is not as important. Have to get done with the exams so I can match by 2009. Even BS is taking me forever. What am I doing wrong? I can't stop myself from trying to memorise and I slow down and don't study.

With my history, I don't know what kind of schedule I should keep!! I need advice!! I can't waste my whole life just preparing for one exam. I need to match by next year or everyone in my family will kill me. They think I am wasting my life by waiting to take one exam!! And honestly, I got so scared, I stopped studying. I expect to do too much just on the first reading. So I go too slowly and STOP studying. Basically, the problem is I don't focus and STOP studying coz I'm too scared to face the exam. There - I've said it - admitted it! Now, does that set me free to study??
