Thank you very much yl, you explain well detail .

You also inspire & motivate me more with those detail info re your prep , exam attitude to be confident, if you've prep well .

Q...How much UW score should be to get 99 , like from your experinces,
in UW general Q wise, & simulated one too ?

So no kapan DVD at all.

Any BSS[ Board Simulator ] Q ?

Any kaplan simulated 2 tests , & usmle CD ?

Re; Robbin Review Q, should do before, during or after the patho each chapter read from golj with audio & BRS ?

Thank you very much, you really lift up my soul & hope after seeing so many read , so
many resources with killing hrs of study in all other posts, that makes me keep on post pond the exm to be able to cover as much as all possible, which in reality I do not have much time that allow me to post pond more & more since I need to be back to FT job instead of PT job for long due to the financial etc .

After all with FT or PT job you can still study in right way of technique & can achieve the 99 , in serious study in 4 mo or 5 mo .

If I am wrong please correct me... so in summary & high light "re; ways of study/prep"...
Guess the way you've done is LN or Q do each portion one at a day, time & review, repeat right away , same day or next morning so will imprint, understand well instead of do all subj , Q or all 7 subj then repeat agian which I am doing my 2nd read that make me having problem .. feel like a brand new subject.
So 1st read each"with repeat right away each chpt or 50 page aday".
2nd read same with kap Q bank ......."with repeat right away each chpt or 50 pg aday , with Q review again late night or next morning "[ how many Q a day ?]
3rd read same with UW ...." with repeat right away each chpt or 50 pg aday, with Q review again late night or next morning " [ how many Q aday?]

Thank you for your wish for me to get 99 , thank you for the tip to be confident, prep for time by doing simulated Uw 3 times & do UW well at least 70 %.

Q... Are UW & kap , golj 350 Q, Robbin R. Q doing in timed or tutored mood ?
Any Q book in timed or tutor or , no Q book using at all ?
Any using of chpt end kap, BRS path Q ?

Thank you very much, I really appreciate your effort & time spending to answer , share, guide us in detail of your way of erxm prep including exm room experince & style leading to 99 of your success .

May all your next steps in good score as you wish 99 with 250 & more.nodnod

Than you very much guys, hope everyone get 99smiling face

inkspot, i subscribed UW for one month first, then renewed it for another month. I took 7 blocks of UW q bank questions in one day as simulation test. So I took the last 21 blocks in 3 separate days. I only went through the questions once. Because i was making good notes when i am doing q bank, it is Ok for me to only review the notes in the last week.

although i prepared very seriously only for 5 months, but that's very hard work. At the end you will feel very proud of how much you have known. it is a wonderful feelingsmiling face. I was also able to intergrate all the subjects together. i mean, when I was doing a pathology question, i will think many ways they might ask in the real exam(like anatomy, drug to use, physiology..)

As genetics, this is a very weak subject for me.I hate to memorize those AR/AD disease. as i said , i just skipped few genetics questions. as a result, i performed low in this subject. But I am lucky because this subject was not heavily tested. I think it is better to memorize it if you are aiming a high 99.

drsp: sorry i missed your question yesterday.

I used all kaplan notes except: high yield for gross anatomy, neuroanatomy, histology, embryology; Goljan 460 page rapid review for pathology; board review series for behavioral science and physiology; microbiology makes ridiculously simple for microbiology. I also did Robbins review for pathology(question books).I did not use kaplan notes for pharmacology. I only read a little of first aid for this subject, the explanations in kaplan q bank and UW(particularly) are amazing, they are more than enough for the test concerning pharmacology. I read most of the first aid too. I think microbiology part is very good.Go through the forum , you will see most people are using these materials. after you have chosen your study materials, stick with it, and learn as well as possible. Good luck with your study. smiling face

Bax, smiling face i saw your exam experience too, althought this is a low 99, but still happy to hit 99. good luck with your study and match too. nod

Hope99.998, my study materials are listed above.

I think to get a 99, you need to get 70s in the last blocks of UW and achieve a stable score. if you do the whole bank in a long time, the first few blocks may influence your total cumulative score, so i think it is less predictive as the last 10 block scores. look at those 99ers, no matter how bad they feel after the exam, as long as they did well in UW andNBME, they will definitely get a 99 in the end. so just prepare well and be confident.smiling face

i did not do kaplan simulated test or USMLE CD. The CD was broken when I received it, throw it away.

i did robbins review before and then after i read every chapter from Goljan.

I am also doing full time research in a hospital. but luckily the boss is very nice and my work is not burdensome. so i tried to do everything related to my work in the hospital and spent every hour on study after going home. I also postponed my test date twice because I was in the high spirit of study and i know I can achive higher score if i postpone. The last month I felt a little too tired, so I know it is time to take the test. I think no matter how hard you study, you will encounter questions you do not know, it is just very normal. But try to know as much as possible in the limited time and evaluated yourself with q banks and NBME, when you reached a certain score, you can take the test even if you feel you do not know many things. This only apply to those who want to get a 99-240 but not 260-270.If you are aiming that high, you may need to study longer and feel more comfortable.

I did both q bank in timed and all subjects style. As my preparation is a little unorganized, i would summarize my prefered prepation as following.

read kaplan notes or other materials ( all subjects)you are using once or twice, go with kaplan q bank. after finshing it, find your weak parts, and read again , especially in those weak points, then go with UW. read your notes(not kaplan notes) before the test and also a quick review of some concepts you think is important but keeps forgetting.since i did not use q bank in tutoring and subject wise mode, i do not know how well it is. but i think if you are doing questions in this way during your second read, i might help to imprint memory.

Good luck with your study and exam , best wishes!smiling face

this is the two website i used for slides

http://www-medlib.med.utah.edu/WebPath/webpath.ht...<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

http://ect.downstate.edu/courseware/rad-atlas/ind...

praying fora 99, I think high yield has some good MRI slides for neuro. actually during my exam, i need a lot information from the question stem to solve the question. use high yield and those two website, it should be more than enough.

  #33

both the websites links that u have posted are broken! please re post them and make sure they work in your browser! thanks

Hi saquib, congratulations on great score. nodI saw your exam experience. I think it is really necesary to sit one day and do some 7 block test. It helps you to manage time and energy better.

Although there are some disscussions about which digit score is more important, I think it just does not matter as long as you get 99. actually i met a resident in my hospital(one of the toppest hospitals in US.) two days ago , she said the cut off line for anesthesia program in this hospital is 220. As long as you get above that, it really does not matter how much the exact score. She also mentioned the whole package matters more, like if you have clinical experience, research, publication, us degrees, etc. So I am happily enjoying the lowest 99 now! gringrin

doc-usmle00, i think it is quite normal for you to feel forgetting things frequently. but try to read more, solve questions and intergrate the concepts. try to push yourself study as hard as possible. you might have a hard and busy job, but do your best. How about weekends? because for me, I can study alot on weekends.

I read immunology, behavioral science, microbiology, pharmacology in first aid, not all of them. I prefer q bank online since the style is more close to real exam.smiling face

thank you vwilldoit, good luck with you study and wish you 99smiling face

thank you for your wish yl!! means a lot...

hi yl,
236,99..........awesome!
would you please tell me with 236 as 3 digit score and 99 a 2 digit score, what will be your percentile?
and one more question,is percentile more imp. or 2 digit score?
thanx

  #43

one more question yl,
i'm confused with all the crammable ,non crammable talk.plz can u guide me which subjects to do first and which in the last?

  #44

Congrat.
Iam taking exam soon. I just disappointed myself because my UW score is 63% ( unsued, timed mode). I have finished 50% so far.
I don't know how some people get 80% on UW.

  #45

great score dude. keep it up on step 2

  #46

Hi everyone. I'm planning to the Step 1 in October. Would you consider selling your materials to me?

  #47

hi gizmo,

I do not know if the three digit score or two digit score are related to percentile. There is one calculation in the forum to say two digit score is calculated by mean, standard deviation. But do not know where it is now. sorry!

I prepare for a long time, so really do not know which subject is crammable, which not. you might need to look at the experience of some guys who prepared for very short period but got 99.

hanwin, 63% on UW is not bad at all. My cumulative score is 65% only. So do ot worry, keep going, you will get higher and higher score in the latest blocks. Good luck with your study and exam.

rezaaa, congratulation on your great score too, see you in step 2!smiling face

  #48

congratulations.
Can you tell me how I can get goljan path notes and audio ?
